O’Connors Irish Pub, Springfield, Ohio Went to O’Connors with friends to celebrate a yearly event, seated inside the outdoor patio area. As the weather was a bit chilly for a May evening, I asked a server if the overhead garage door above our tables could be close to help keep some of our party warm. The kind waitress said shed need to ask “The Manager” and returned in a few minutes to tell us “NO”.
I asked again, with the same results-“NO”. Another kind server stopped at our tables to inform us that if we keep asking, it will just upset “The Manager”.
We have frequented this establishment MANY MANY times over the time it has been at this location and at the former one, so it was not our first time.
“The Manager” DID come out to the Patio area, sat 15-20 feet from our tables, but made absolutely NO attempt to stop by our tables, greet our party, give any reasoning as to why they were unconcerned about the comfort of their loyal patrons, nothing.
I collected our wonderful server (she was only doing as instructed by “The Manager”, so we do not fault her one bit, nor the other server-also terrific-for attempting to make their guests feel welcomed and comfortable), asked for our party’s tab. I paid our party’s remaining tab in full, and one-by-one we decided to leave for the evening. Two in our party had food, the others finished their beverages, not wishing to purchase anything else and we left.
A simple gesture of “The Manager” to stop by, learn their clientele and do what a good inn-keeper would do for the comfort of their patrons possibly would have saved the night.
Later on facebook, I left a comment, which led to ‘The Manager”/“The Owner” to censor the comments, remove that post and ban this reviewer from their page. Even going as far as stating “I swear to God, I didn’t know anything about it” and “Nobody informed me about this”. Untruthful is not a way to run any business, let alone a restraint/bar/event place.
Poor form, poor manners and I believe it when other patrons tell me that their servers are ‘afraid’ of “The Manager”/“The Owner”.
As for our party, we will choose to spend our money elsewhere in the future and spread the word of this establishment. Date of...
Read moreAs a former staff member after reading many of the reviews posted here I think that its my moral obligation to clear some things up. Firstly, always check your bar tabs, the bartenders are notorious for overcharging on drinks, adding additional drinks that were not ordered and self tipping. Secondly, never order a top shelf mix drink, the staff are required to substitute cheaper liquors with the expensive ones while still charging you the top shelf price. Third, whenever a craft beer is ordered and the keg runs empty staff will always substitute your order with a cheaper domestic while still charging you for the high price craft beer. Fourth, all of the food in the restaurant is prepared in a glorified microwave, nothing is fresh everything is frozen, and. if a dish is returned it will sit and wait to be reheated until it can be served to any other patron. Fifth the tap lines are almost never cleaned you would not believe the amount of mold that can flourish on the inside of a beer tap line. Lastly, any returned dishes that must be prepared again in the kitchen will be spit on/dropped on the floor/or intentionally burned. I implore you do NOT support this establishment that is run the most tyrannical egotistical self-absorbed money grabbers, who do not look after the welfare off their patrons/employees but merely the lining of...
Read moreI have been looking at all the "delicious looking" food pictured here and decided to go for late lunch. SO VERY DISAPPOINTED!!
NOTE: They DO NOT HAVE a full menu. I don't see their limited menu here at all. I ordered a Ruben Sandwich with crispy seasoned wedges. The bread was at best VERY lightly toasted... so soggy. The contents were good though and the wedges were crispy as requested. My sister ordered the salmon and a small spinach salad. After several minutes, we were told they had no salmon. After once again deliberating the minimized choices she reluctantly chose a CENTER CUT.... RARE prime rib. (Mind you, we had reviewed the full menu they show on their FB page and knew what we planned to order prior to or leaving home... those were not on the current menu.) What came to the table was a slice of prime rib that was well done through all but about a 2" diameter pale pink spot in the center. NOT rare as requested. FOR $22!!!! t was sent back. she was then asked if her salad was enough? WHAT?! 1/2 a salad?! NO! In the end I shared my soggy reuben and fries with her. It was literally that or walk out! On and positive note, they have good lemonade. That's about all I can say there...
I see no reason to...
