Chester's Small Town Tavern is a delightful find that promises a memorable dining experience. Known for its welcoming atmosphere and innovative comfort food, Chester's stands out as a top spot for both locals and visitors. During my visit, I had the pleasure of sampling some of their most popular dishes and cocktails: the pot pie, s'mores white Russian, honey bacon cheese curds, and burrito. Each dish was a delightful surprise, blending classic flavors with unique twists.
Pot Pie The pot pie at Chester's is nothing short of spectacular. Encased in a perfectly golden, flaky crust, the filling is a mix of tender chicken and fresh vegetables. The seasoning is spot on, delivering a comforting, home-cooked flavor that makes you feel right at home. It's the perfect dish to warm you up on a cool Minnesota evening.
S'mores White Russian The s'mores white Russian is a dessert and cocktail all in one. This creative twist on a classic cocktail features the smooth, creamy blend of a traditional white Russian, enhanced with the nostalgic flavors of s'mores. The drink is topped with a toasted marshmallow and a graham cracker rim, making it both visually stunning and deliciously indulgent. It's a must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth.
Honey Bacon Cheese Curds Chester's honey bacon cheese curds are a delightful take on a beloved snack. The curds are perfectly fried to a crisp golden brown, and the addition of honey and bacon brings a sweet and savory dimension that is simply irresistible. The combination of gooey cheese, crispy coating, sweet honey, and smoky bacon is a match made in culinary heaven. This appetizer is perfect for sharing, though you might be tempted to keep it all to yourself.
Burrito The burrito at Chester's is a hearty, flavor-packed creation. Stuffed with a generous portion of seasoned meat, rice, beans, and fresh vegetables, it offers a satisfying meal that is both filling and delicious. The house-made zesty avocado adds a refreshing balance to the bold flavors, making each bite a delightful experience. It's a standout dish that showcases the tavern's ability to elevate classic Tex-Mex cuisine.

Read moreChester's Small Town Tavern and Eatery is the kind of rural town sports bar where the wings are hot, the beer is cold, and the Wi-Fi signal acts like a spotty Dalmatian.
.Housed in a dingy strip mall this place is equal parts sports pub, community center, and unofficial therapy office. The walls are a mosaic of live entertainment, collectibles, neon beer signs, and thankfully not one taxidermied raccoon or set of deer antlers. TVs? Oh, there are TVs. plenty of them, strategically placed so no one misses a single play.
The bar top is long, smooth, vast and usually surrounded by a cheerful mix of regulars, and drifters. Behind the bar are the personalities. Not just bartenders—hosts of the high plains! The drinks menu ranges from artisanal cocktails with muddled herbs to a can of Old Milwaukee served with a wink.
The menu? Oh, it’s comforting. Burgers, wings, fries, and something mysteriously labeled “Chester's Baked House Mac-N-Cheese” that may involve chicken, shrimp, or both. But here’s the kicker—everything is outrageously good. Like, “you-just-closed-your-eyes-after-the-first-bite” good.
They have a house-made meatloaf, thick as your uncle’s handshake, served proudly on a slice of country bread, nestled under a scoop of mashed potatoes so fluffy they could file for cloud status. topped with a hearty ladle of brown gravy and bacon bits, It's comfort food with calloused hands—no frills, no fuss, just a full-belly guarantee and a warm hug in meat form.

Read moreMaking this review after my 3rd visit. Started with a couple craft cocktails and took the food to go. I have been to some of the finest restaurants and bars in the state.... They do not compare. S'mores white russian with a chocolate dipped rim coated in graham crackers and toasted marshmallow on top. I warmed up my to go pot pie and would give it a full 10 star... The flaky crust was amazing, even warmed up. Went for a breakfast and the owner visited our table to ensure our service and food quality exceeded our expectations, which they did. She gave our whole table a complimentary drink and we had a great chat with her and our server who came to Chester's after 20 years at a notable restaurant in Blaine. The dedicated coffee menu was fantastic and their barista could customize your drink to order. The atmosphere is cozy and fun with good tunes playing on the touch tunes. It is a really unique place, not just for this area but for the state. If your looking for a unique menu for food and drinks this is it. They also have a lot of "regular" fare that you would expect to see on most menus if you don't feel like venturing outside your comfort zone and a full bar and a wine selection that rivals the French Riviera. Look forward to future visits and trying new things. The unfounded 1 star reviews giving no details about their experience at this venue are exactly what they are. 1 star unfounded reviews. FYI the complimentary drink had little influence on my review. If your looking for a place that leads, not follows, you will want to...
