Audubon's Cafe is a charming locally owned breakfast/lunch restaurant. When I visited, I didn't see signs saying "Audubon's Cafe". In fact, I missed the place the first time. The sign is just off the highway, so I missed it. BUT I found it; the cafe is located between Burger King and Sonny's Pizza, just off the road. Once inside, the down-home atmosphere permeated the place, and a sense of pleasant peace began to grow in my mind. A gentleman in jeans, t-shirt and a baseball cap, approached my table and took my order. Now that's comfortable, down home service! My order: three eggs over easy, bacon, wheat toast, grits (small), and coffee, which totalled just over $10 with tax. My food arrived in only a few minutes, perfectly cooked and beautifully plated. The grits were perfect home-cooked southern grits, which isn't always easy to find! The entire experience felt like eating in someone's home, down to earth and welcoming. I HIGHLY recommend Audubon's Cafe in St. Francisville, Louisiana! If you want a great home-cooked breakfast with a down-home feel, Audubon's is the place for you when visiting St....
Read moreGreat breakfast place for a loud, big group. Attached to an antique store, this restaurant has a few items for sale sprinkled throughout the seating. We carefully navigated the clumsy two year old away from these delicate and breakable items to a big hearty wooden table with solid chairs. Breakfast items are ridiculously reasonable in price and taste is excellent. Orders for 9+ people were all correct and quick. Servers were friendly and caring. Another woman even came over to say hi to the baby and let us know about the coloring box. Food was big portions and delicious. Coffee was quite good, very robust taste, not that watery sludge you find in some diners. Great...
Read moreStopped here on our way home from the women's bowling tournament in Baton Rouge. Food was great. One of our party had the alligator sausage and we got a small sample, it was awesome! In fact I asked if they sold it as they had some jams, jellies and condiments for sale. He said no just as a dish to order. But they could sell me an order of it unprepared if I wanted so I could take to the hubby, they even gave me a big portion of the jalepeno jelly it is served with! Got it back to Iowa and he loved it! Excellent customer service, thanks again for humoring a crazy lady ordering uncooked gator...
