China Restaurant — Restaurant in St. James

The food was fantastic that's why I gave the 2 stars. The experience was terrible, the restaurant was smokey and the service was completely awful. We ordered wontons and they came out super quick. The two adult meals came out shortly after. We waited about 30 minutes for the two deep fried chicken kids meals to come out and right as we were about to leave they came out. One kids meal was suppse to have white rice and that never even made it out. We had to flag our waitress down for ketchup. 3 of our 4 drinks were empty and we were never asked if we would like refills. I would be more understanding if the place was busy and chaotic, but we were the only people in there. They had a few togo orders, and I guess I understand why...

There are Chinese restaurants, and then there are Chinese restaurants... this place is the latter. Operated by a family, there is no buffet, no hot plates, and no food waiting to be served. The service is fast and friendly and food comes out fresh and hot. The server (and chef) recommended that I try the Triple Delight. I was not disappointed with my choice. Along with a cup of Hot & Sour soup, my meal was one of the best I've had in awhile.

Who would have thought that such a gem would be hidden away in a small town in the middle of Minnesota. Well, they are out there and this is definitely one of them to try if...

China restaurant is a rustic family owned and operated joint. It truly is a mom and pop place. Gotta give 'em credit. It ain't easy to turn a prophet in the food service industry these days. Liberal quasi socialist legislation dictates minimum wage then goes after whatever might be left for a prophet with taxes, fees and fines. Sure makes it hard for a small business owner to make a go of it.
