My wife and I went for our 25th anniversary on 4/1/2025, and we're excited to try a new restaurant. We were told how great the food was and the amazing menu by my inlaws. So we were expecting a great meal. The selection on the menu was minimal, with no vegetables on the menu besides a salad. The selection of meats was also minimal. I ordered a strip steak cooked med that was hard to cut, resulting in the hardly sharp knife pushing all the juices out. The fat on the side of my steak was not rendered. I ordered a baked potato that came with butter and sour cream. The bottom was burnt, and I was really surprised that they didn't offer bacon bits or chives. My wife ordered a filet mignon cooked medium, and it was also hard to cut, and the juices pushed out of hers as well while trying to cut it. Her side order of potatos with garlic butter and parm was minimal. 4 little potatos and hardly any flavor. We were not impressed. I could go to Sam's Steak House and spend the same money, get a better meal and the atmosphere would be a lot better. The place was so loud that we couldn't hold a conversation during our meal. They were less than half occupied, and the lighting was so bright. The only thing that impressed us was our server, who was attentive to our needs and always showed up at the right moments at our table. This place needs an overhaul. Is it a bar or a restaurant. Is it a cafeteria or fine dining? Because for what we paid, I felt like I was eating in my high...
Read moreI went to meet friends at Carnivore for brunch this past Sunday. As i was parking, I noticed that my friends walking into the restaurant. I went in, was greeted, then asked if i had a reservation. I said, "yes, It looks like my friends have already been seated, I just saw them come in." I, then, gave the name for the reservation. I asked, "may i go in and look for them?" She says..."sure go ahead!" I go in, immediately I am stopped by a waitress inside. I say, "HI, i have a reservation, my friends have already been seated." she step very close to me and says, "Did you check with the hostess? I say, "yes, she told me..." (Did not get to complete my sentence) the waitress says, "maam, go back to the hostess." Just then, my friends stand up and say my name. They are like 6 feet away from us sitting at the window. WE, both the waitress and I, saw my friends say my name. But, noooooo, I go back to the HOSTESS and ask AGAIN, "do you mind if i go and find my friends that have already been seated?" she says, again, "no problem." Why do you all stop people from walking through the restaurant? this is the second and last time this has happened. WHY is it Fort Knox in this restaurant? Rules like this make me wonder what are you trying to prevent??? Who are you deterring from coming in freely to eat? The restaurant was full of empty tables, who needed a reservation anyway? Steak sandwich and...
Read moreI literally can't say enough wonderful things about this place - food, drinks, service/staff, atmosphere, all of it! I've been several times and have never been disappointed. They have an excellent happy hour from 5-6pm. The food is delicious and always comes out hot and plated attractively. The arancini and steak medallions can't be missed. The Ceasar salad has in-house made dressing, actual shaved cheese (not powdered/shaker cheese!), and homemade croutons that are perfectly seasoned (and not greasy). If you're looking for a truly good cocktail and not just a typical well with mixer, this is your place. Crafted cocktails highlight a medley flavors and aesthetics. The sugar cookie martini and the chocolate martini (not just regular chocolate syrup in this glass!) were delightful. My tried and true favorite is the strawberry lemoncello martini. The peach old fashioned was a welcomed and tasty twist on a classic. They have a weekly special martini and margarita as well. I would be crazy to not mention the spectacular staff. Your water will never run dry and dirty plates will never pile up. Kind, bubbly, and polite - absolutely on point. Carnivore STL is perfect for a dress-up date night or a casual dinner evening with the whole family. Easily one of the best restaurants currently operating on The Hill, well surpassing others who have been...
