I have been going to The Missouri Baking Company for as long as I can remember. So to walk in there today at 12:30 to pick up chocolate iced Beignets was expected to be a real treat for me. A few years ago I was diagnosed with a heart condition and I now have a service dog who alerts me when I need to take medication. While it is not always convenient to have a service animal he certainly keeps me from taking additional medication and makes sure that I am aware when I am in need of my medication.
Today was a sad day for me at one of my favorite places when I walked in immediately one of the workers exclaimed, â Maâam we cannot have that dog in here!â I expressed that he was a service dog and he goes everywhere with me, thinking that was now over with I pulled a number and waited only for a curly haired red head to also come from the back and exclaim with the same nasty attitude that I could not have him with me, once again I explained he is my service dog and goes everywhere with me. Only for her to asked me for his papers. Of course I have them with me, he is wearing a clearly marked service dog jacket as well.
That was not enough the discussion had to continue in a negative manner. For educational purposes it is within the ADA Law for anyone to ask two questions about a service dog: (1) Is that a service animal? And (2) Does he provide a service for you. Thatâs it, thatâs all. There is a $75,000 fine for the first offense and a $150,000 fine for violating the ADA Laws a second time. Business owners and their employees need to not only be aware of the law but should also be grateful for all of their customers even when they donât look like what the hope for, at least they are patronizing their establishments even with a...
Read moreDriving through St. Louis, I searched out the question I ask of most cities, âwho has the best cheese danishes here?â The Missouri Baking company had an overwhelming positive review on Google. Not just for their baked goods, but as much for their customer service. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. The baked goods were⌠Average. Not bad, but not great. What was more disappointing, was the customer service. Sure, the young ladies were responsive and knowledgeable, but their mannerisms and disposition could only have been less welcoming if they had actually cussed me out. They didnât. They were prompt and professional in serving my pastries, but I received the kind of service you might expect at the DMV: curt, to the point, matter of fact, and with an attitude that says â we are doing you a favor.â Not the welcoming, friendly, jovial experience most people have walking into a bakery.⌠Any bakery.
If I could illustrate my experience for you. Have you ever been in the company of somebody who was sad, disappointed, or angry and you tried to say something to make them smile? You know, to bring some levity to the situation, whatever it is. Do you know the feeling you get when they donât reciprocate, like most humans might, and return the smile? Remember how uncomfortable that felt? So you repeated yourself a couple of times thinking that person was in distress and needed some extra effort on your part. Still nothing. That was my experience at the Missouri baking Company. I felt like I was at the Soup Naziâs Kitchen. I kept waiting for them to say, âNO Danish...
Read moreThe owner of the company is a GEM! I visited the bakery to purchase some cannoli's for my sister's birthday. I explained the situation because my sister wanted cannoli's from this bakery, and NO OTHER CANNOLI'S WOULD DO!! So, up on ordering the owner says to me, "do you trust me with your purchase?" I said " yes, I sure do!" The next week I returned to pick up my purchase and the presentation was THE MOST BEAUTIFUL! She made an arrangement with the cannoli's with a beautiful bow and little individual wrappings. Super pretty! Our experience here was the best, and I have nothing but positive comments and recommendations for this bakery. So many wonderful desserts and different desserts to try. The only issue that I had was that SOME NOT ALL of the people looked at me like, "there goes the neighborhood!" Or, "what are YOU doing here!?!" However, I met a few really nice people as well, so it all depends on the person. For me, that doesn't have a negative affect on the business and how stellar their attitudes are, and the quality of the customer service. They are amazing people. Visit, you guys WILL NOT be...
