I cannot say enough good things about Dos Reyes! Living in the area, I’ve seen a few different things come through this location, but I am definitely rooting for DR! I have been three times now and always try something different. The food is inventive (Street Corn Dip? Chocolate Flan? Yucatán Pork Nachos? YES PLEASE) but exceptionally well-made. They even have breakfast options starting at $1.99!!! Everything is fresh and the quality and portion sizes are far better than I expected for the price. The shrimp tacos are in my top 3 for any that I have ever had anywhere!
The drinks are wonderful, inexpensive and very fun- they have creative seasonal options like the Pineapple Margarita, but even the standards get a fun twist (the $5 Paloma comes with a Tajin rim!). I can also happily report that their margaritas are fresh and very well-made... no cheap tequila mixed with tons of sweet & sour here! Additionally, if you aren’t a tequila person, they have a menu of house-made specialty cocktails featuring whiskey, rum, and vodka as well- not to mention a solid beer menu and a full bar. Their happy hour menu includes appetizers as well and makes an already inexpensive drink menu even cheaper!!!
The service is perfect, food and drinks are always very nice (and inexpensive!!), and the atmosphere is laid back and fun. If I had any complaints at all, it would be that parking can be tricky on Hampton, but that is certainly no reason to miss this place!

Read moreThis is not your typical tex-mex. There is no ground beef. They are trying new flavors. The rice is cilantro-flavored. Not my favorite ever but good.
I had three tacos: al pastor, alambre, and barbacoa. All three were good. I would have liked a little more of a sauce to go with them. The one small sliver of like wasn't enough so they were a bit dry overall. They had pineapple chunks mixed in which was a sweet addition.
My friend had the pork enchiladas and they were dry. The meat inside was dry but had good flavor. The sauce on top was minimal. Don't get me wrong, he ate all three enchiladas. Just dry.
My daughter had the shrimp taco. The spice level was right but it just didn't have any real identity. Pinto beans, cilantro rice, flavored shrimp, and spicy aioli...just tasted all mixed up. Impossible to say I liked it or hated it.
Staff was fast, courteous, and offered great ideas for what to get. The location is nice. The choice of outdoor/indoor/covered seating were all pleasant and difficult to choose between.
Will go back, probably for breakfast. That menu looked unique...
Read moreHaving moved to STL from New Mexico, my husband and I couldn't wait to try this restaurant. Honestly - it was really disappointing. The food wasn't disgusting - it just wasn't all that great. The beans and cilantro rice were cold. The only thing that stopped me from sending my plate back for a spin in the microwave, was that my chimichunga was piping hot when I cut into it. The chorizo on the mexican chimichinga was an interesting twist, that I liked; but the liberal overuse of cilantro was extremely unpleasant for me. Mexican/Spanish rice should never be green. The queso blanco was ok. The chips were flimsy but tasty. The salsa was bland and had too much cilantro in it.
The service was really awesome. Our waitress was great, friendly and was actually the best part of our experience. We personally can't understand the lure or the great reviews - but we're still glad we tried it. The food isn't spicy as another reviewer stated - but if you love (and I do mean REALLY LOVE) cilantro - then, this is your place .... it...
