Nestled on the Hill, Joe Fassi's Sausage and Sandwich Factory is a gem that transports you to a bygone era of authentic, hearty eats. Every visit to Joe Fassi's is marked by an unspoken commitment: to savor every last bite of their delectable sandwiches. Despite my best intentions to save half for later, the sheer deliciousness of their offerings compels me to devour the whole thing, every time.

We found this place by chance. The first place we stopped, a regular shop that we love, only had outdoor seating and it was about to rain. So we quickly looked for an alternative. The name was enough to get my attention. After arriving we were skeptical by the "no frills" store front. Don't let this fool you. Once inside you can instantly tell that they mean business. Large menu with hot and cold subs to be topped of with Salads, soup and pastas. After asking for the popular choices, we ordered. What we didn't know was that the orders were missed and we got sandwich that we didn't order. (Likely our fault for not being clear) thankfully this happened because we got a sandwich that we probably wouldn't have ordered and WOW was it amazing. We ate it so quickly that it wasn't until the end that we realized it wasn't what we actually ordered. One of my favorite sandwiches ever. "#13 Vince Fassi Salsiccia Slam" What a tasty treat. We were so thrilled that we went back up and ordered another sandwich to split. This time the meatball. Another fantastic sandwich. You can see the family's heart on the walls. A family tradition of making people happy. It was enjoyable to read the history of the Fassi's and awesome to have eaten there. A must try for...

We were looking for a lunch place but I did not want a chain location. I saw this place…Our family ordered four sandwiches. -Hot pesto chicken with cheese had a generous amount of meat and had the added lettuce and tomatoes. -Meatball sandwich was great! The ratio to meatball to sauce to cheese and bread was right on! The meatballs were obviously homemade. The homemade meatballs and sausages are available for purchase to go, for home an addition to your Italian dishes. -Family favorite tasted like all time favorite.

You need to visit and eat at Joe Fassi Sausage & Sandwich Factory on The Hill. This 70-year-old business is a great place for lunch and dinner. Orders are prepared quickly and cheerfully by the staff. I stopped in for lunch (the #12 Sheriff Murphy’s Irish Sling) and also ordered a Meatball Sandwich and Pasta with Italian Sausage to take home. Sandwich meats are sliced to order, and you have a choice of breads – white, garlic cheese or wheat. My sandwich had thinly sliced corned beef with melted pepper and swiss cheese, thin sliced onions, pepperoncini, pickles and yellow mustard. A delight for the mouth. The hot sandwiches arrive at your table toasted and hot. Not microwave heated! They have a cozy seating area and outdoor seating is also available. The walls are filled with photos history showing the history of Joe’s and The Hill. Open every day except for select holidays.

Honestly, not sure how this place has this high of a rating… unless it’s a nostalgia thing. The service was okay? The cashier was not particularly friendly (nor was she rude, she basically just existed) and was very hard to hear. I was a little shocked to see that two lunch combos cost $45 (no pricing on the menu). The food was mediocre, at best. Sauce tasted like it was from a can, the meatballs were barely warm, and the amount of shaker Parmesan cheese was borderline offensive. If I hadn’t of paid $20 for it, I wouldn’t have even bothered to finish my meatball sandwich (which literally had 2 meatballs on it). I was left with about half a cup of extra red sauce in the pasta, which was just the same boring sauce with fettuccini noodles. I will never go back and I would not recommend it to a friend.

Love this long- time neighborhood sandwhich shop, with so much more than just sandwiches! For instance, the salad we had wad such a quintessential St. Louis salad and dressed perfectly. But of course, we went with the sandwhich, upon the owners recommendation ordered the meatball sub on garlic bread, a little tip: add the giardiniera, it's delicious😋 Obviously, we'r loved everything, but a great proponent of going here with bre the atmosphere, it's a small neighborhood shop with excellent service😀 Thanx for a great lunch!
