Spartan Drive In — Restaurant in Stanwood

I just moved to the area and finally had a chance to stop and try out this cute drive thru. I ordered three meals, paid and waited about ten minutes. I noticed two cars pulled up behind me so I got the attention of the guy working and asked if he wanted me to move over to the drive thru waiting parking spaces. He then realized people were behind me and said sure. I sat waiting in the drive thru parking spot for 30 minutes. The cars that were behind me got their food and left. I thought since there was only one person in each car maybe they didn’t order much food and ours was just taking longer. 45 minutes after I placed my order the guy came out and asked what we ordered, then told me that in fact our order had never even been placed and if he wanted me to place it. At that point I was beyond irritated and was not going to wait for them to finally make my food and let them have my $40 an hour later. He said he would go get my refund. Over five minutes later I got out of my car and went inside to ask if my money had been refunded. He said he just did it but then I had to ask for my receipt. I completely understand they were busy. (Which is why I patiently waited for so long in the drive thru parking space) But I feel it’s uncalled for and customer service was terrible. Apparently I should have never been nice and offered to move to the drive thru spaces or after a period of time went in myself and asked how much longer til the food was ready. Maybe then they would have realized sooner my order was...

This used to be one of our "go to" places but the last couple of orders were not very good. One order was missing the tartar sauce, which you have to pay for and don't notice until you are already home. The online ordering system is not good as per the employee "we don't even see that it says you ordered for a future time, the order comes in and we start cooking". Hence, our food was very cold. This time I ordered fish and chips, which used to be the best around. Well, I got home, opened up the bag, and it looked like fish sticks you could buy from the frozen section I the grocery store. Awful. And the food was cold again even though I picked it up within a minute of being notified it was ready. At least they remembered the tartar sauce this time. Staff here are super. Fries and shake were excellent. Fries were super fresh, crisp, hot, with that perfect french fry flavor that tells you the deep fryer is well maintained. Milkshake was TOP quality. Rich and creamy and just the right thickness where it still travels through a straw.

The burger was good. Tbh not good enough to make me think about it later and crave another one though. A burger with lots of finely shredded iceburg is a beautiful thing to me, but that iceburg really needs to be fresh and crisp. Unfortunately I got mostly yellow and white wilty bits on mine.

It was a bit of a wait even though it wasn't really all that busy so if you are in a rush it might not be the best option.
