Ol' Bob's BBQ & Catering — Restaurant in Statesville

I placed a to go order this afternoon as I have many times over the years. When I got home I discovered the fries to appear as though they were just raw potatoes with grease on them. Like they were dropped in oil for maybe 5 seconds and I'm not exaggerating. It was so bad it didn't even look like an accident. It looked intentional, cause there's no way the cook wouldn't have noticed this. I was in the restaurant business for many years and rarely make complaints but in this case thought someone might want to know, in case they needed to give someone some training. So I call and talked to someone who said they were the manager. I made it clear right off the bat I wasn't seeking a refund, or free food or anything, even though the fries are uneditable and now in the trash. When I was running restaurants I would have appreciated a customer with no ulterior motive telling me something badly wrong going on in my business. Not this guy!! He instantly became agitated and defensive. He even said to me "Have you never made a mistake?" Now honestly up to this point I had been a nice guy but then I finally gave up and ended the conversation. He handled the situation about as poorly as possible and obviously is clueless about customer service. We will never be back!! Not because of the food, but because of this guys...

Stopped while on our way through. Was looking for a BBQ place in the evening on a weekday. Apparently that is difficult to find in NC. Most were closed, but Old Bob's wasn't. I had BBQ tray. Disappointed in the presentation. Literally all the food was together in a French fry tray. The vinegar slaw was good, and BBQ was ok. Not fond of the BBQ sauce on the table. It was some weird cross of vinegar/sweet sauce. I normally like NC BBQ sauce, but this definitely wasn't what I was used to. They were kind enough to give me a cup of wing sauce (honey bbq) which was good. Hushpuppies were good. Husband had ribs, and they were good, but had that weird sauce on it again. He scraped it off. Staff wasn't overly friendly, but they were young. Went to use the bathroom, and apparently the lone male employee we saw in the place was in there. I was told I would probably want to wait for the men's room to open up. 😳 No thank you. I had high hopes, but was left a little disappointed. I probably won't be back if I ever find myself in the area again. Lesson learned? If you want lots of BBQ choices,...

I'm not much for one to do reviews, but...

1. The dining room was disgusting there were stains everywhere from spilled drink and food. Everything was sticky on the table and the huge sauce squeeze bottles looked like they hadn't had a good cleaning since opening.. some had tape stuck around the top to hold it to the bottle.
2. The restroom was not clearly marked.
3. The girl who took our order was very sour looking.. didn't even smile when we first walked in to place our order.
4. I ordered the number 6 (bbq tray)and when they say tray.. that's exactly what they mean.. you get all your food in a French fry tray. I had to use the food tray so my food didn't end up all over the table.
5. The food was ok.. I really didn't wanna use the BBQ sauce on the table due to the unclean look to them.. but ended up having too because the bbq was so dry. I hope changes are implemented, we enjoy trying "out the way places" when we travel. Most times they are a hit.. but this...
