First time going to this new Mexican restaurant.we were not impressed and will not go back.they were not busy had 3 cooks n 2 servers.there was a mixed couple white women black man at a table then we came in and we were 2 white people.then server came within 5 min took our drink order n food order.than a Hispanic male came in and sat at bar n,ordered drink n food. Then a Hispanic couple came in so now there's 3 tables n 1 at bar.they took Hispanic couples order n drinks.the guy at bar n Hispanic couple came in about 15 min after we were there.so we got sat n ordered in 5min then it was 20 min later we get my pepsi n my fiancee tea then we asked 3 diff times in 10 min intervals for chips n salsa n cheese dip.usually chips n salsa complimetary at Mexican resturaunts n we ordered cheese dip.45 min later we get chips n salsa but still waiting on cheese dip I ask again n 15 min later we get cheese dip.I'm used to it being always served hot at other Mexican restaurant so it came out cold n thin n runny.I asked server why cheese dip not hot n she told me it's served cold n I asked if we could get it heated cause we used to eating it hot when she said we always serve cold here n we not allowed to heat it.it was gross cold and asked if she could take it off n we didn't want it cause we were used to eating it hot.then we asked how much longer on meal we both ordered chicken fajitas n she said 30 to 45 min wait.what got me tho is server ignored us and you had to get up n interupt her to ask for anything cause she was to busy flirting w the Hispanic guy at bar.the Hispanic guy n Hispanic couple came in 15 min after us n got there food fast n quick n before us.the mixed couple was still waiting on food n chips n salsa n they arrived before us.so I guess if you Hispanic you get good fast service n if you mixed or white then service is horrible.we won't go back.we told our server to cancel order n we would be glad to pay for drinks but not cheese dip since we didn't eat it.when asked to speak w mgr i was told one was not avail n she told me if you didn't have 2 or 3 hours to spend at a reasturaunt you shouldn't of came there.I would hate to see them busy n if they had more than 3 or 4 tables.the female server was very rude n got mad when I interupted her twice to ask for a refil or chips n salsa cause she was to busy flirting with a guy.the other server was at the side n ignored customers n was on her phone n seemed upset n mad n you could overhear her conversation n she was fighting w I guess her boyfriend or hubby over phone who knows.we defiantly will not go back.the restaurant wasn't that clean...
Read moreWe stayed at a nearby hotel and walked to Taqueria Tacontento after a long day on the road. First, the service we received was fantastic. She was engaging, kind, and helpful. Second, the salsa and chips were solid as starters and we built our own platters out of their small burritos, sides, and extras like jalapeños and lettuce. The cheese on the small burritos was out of this world and the same went for the black beans and rice. We ate ourselves silly, they brought us additional salsa for our chips, and the soda was spot on in the carbonation/syrup department. The best part? All told, our bill came to $22.14 before we tipped our service accordingly. Without question, we'd consider stopping in Statesville in our future travels JUST for a meal at Taqueria Tacontento....
Read moreThis is hands-down the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to, very possibly the best restaurant EVER. The staff was nice and friendly. Generously sized portions and a great Mexican dessert menu. Right away when you sit down, they place a bowl of nachos on your table, which was a nice touch and so much better than a bread basket. We ordered an extra side of rice which they never charged us for. To top off, I ordered the tres leches cake. They gave me a large slice which was amazing (and super filling)! I could tell that they used real cream in the cake. I left the dinner table stuffed, happy, and almost too full for breakfast the...
