I am giving this place two stars only because our experience two weeks ago was very good! That being said, unfortunately, after returning tonight, we will never go back here again. The staff last time was very helpful and awesome. Today, it was the complete opposite. The food is decent, a little overpriced for what it is...$6.50 for a small bowl of kids kraft Mac and and cheese, for example. The sweet potato fries we ordered were awesome until I took a bite of one sweet potato with the ketchup and got a very strong chemical taste. Don’t know if it was the potato or the ketchup. Hoping it’s not rat poison- but I know it definitely was not an edible chemical that somehow got mixed in with that one bite. (It’s been an hour and I still have the after taste of that chemical.) I decided to let that one go and didn’t bring it up with the staff. My chef salad was brought out with one of the ingredients (the boiled egg) missing. My daughter did go inform the staff and they brought out the missing ingredient. However, after taking about 10 bites of the salad, my teeth hit something painful. There was a cut zip tie in my salad! By then, I was grossed out and done. How does a used, cut up zip tie get in a salad? The staff apologized and just offered to reimburse my salad ($12.03) when we spent almost $60 (we had four in our party- two adults, two children, appetizer, and ice cream...no drinks) there with the tip. We will not be returning. Today was that bad. If they had offered to reimburse the dinner- we might have given it another chance but spending that much for that bad of experience... it is too big of a gamble to go back. We will just make our own kraft Mac and cheese for a dollar and buy a salad bag from the store for $2.50. No more throwing away our money, sitting at a messy table, taking bites with chemical tastes in them, or biting on used zip ties that someone’s hands have been on to tie...
Read moreIf 0 stars was an option, I would have picked that for this review.. Unfortunately this place was very disappointing for the cute location and nice views of the bay it has. We chose it because it was dog friendly, so stopped in for some lunch after a short hike. The outside chairs and tables were plastic, which just looked cheap. You walked in to a very non descript restaurant where you had to order at the counter. The servers seemed fairly disinterested, barely acknowledging my presence. I needed to use the restroom, so asked where it was. When I walked in I was a little horrified to see sticky tape hanging from the ceilings with dozens of flies stuck to it. Not exactly the way to stir up an appetite. Because it was the only dog friendly restaurant in the area, we decided to stay. Big mistake! The food we couldn't finish because it was saturated in grease. My fries tasted like seafood, I'm assuming because they maybe cooked them in the same oil as the fried calamari??...My friend had ordered the BLT, thinking it was a safer option. The bread was stale and it looked like something you'd get at a middle school cafeteria. We felt it was way over priced for what we received, and mostly unedible. I had ordered a beer, which would have been the best part of the meal by fat, but never received it. I went in to get a refund, and realized at that point that they charged almost $8 for a regular glass of beer! Ridiculous! And not that I like to admit this publicly, but we both ended up having pretty severe stomach issues after we left. We would have been better off...
Read moreUpdate 11/9/2019 Since it sold things have changed and for now I am going to drop it a star, but I almost want to drop it 2. The staff has not changed much, thank goodness, except for the owners of course. This Friday the place was pretty empty. Usually, in the bar area, its hard to find 2 tables together by 6 and getting crowded when we leave around 8 to 8:30. Maybe it's an off Friday, it never got crowded.
We ordered our usual drinks and items but they were out of sour cream for the nachos, and one of us got the last of the fried chicken so they were only able to fill one order. Not a good sign that an empty bar is running out of stock. What if they got busy??? The thing I noticed the most was that my bill was higher than usual. Not sure what cost so much but next time I go in I will need to look at the prices to see what's gone up.
What's new are some of the flooring, I see a lot of cameras, it's lots brighter in there, and they now have Pull Tabs if you like that kind of thing. Not sure about the owners, they seem to direct the staff a lot and are always looking around and watching things. I don't think I noticed the previous owners as much but maybe I wasn't looking or it didn't seem weird. But it definitely seems different now.
Original review was 5-star Frequent hang out. Like the Fried Chicken and the Nachos (no chili). But the best part about this place are the people. Both the wait staff and the patrons. Just a...
