Burger Shack — Restaurant in Stockton

How fortuitous that the new owners of this dump have been able to assume all of the goodwill and reviews that 5-Star had when this location was part of that chain. I was a semi-regular customer of this and a few other 5-Star locations, which despite the shabby condition of their restaurants, I regarded the food and service as excellent. Imagine my surprise when the Stockton location changed names and ownership. But, being close to my work, I gave it a try hoping nothing had changed. The front counter help, while polite, assured me nothing had changed. That was misinformation (to be kind).

I ordered my usual, a double cheeseburger combo with fries and a drink. It came out fast enough, despite the ridiculous noise level from people in the kitchen yelling at each other in, what I assume, was some Arabic language. Nothing other than the drink looked the same from the 5-Star days, but even that was poured by the front counter guy as they rotated the soda machine so it was no longer self-serve.

First I tried the fries because IMHO that was the best thing 5-Star made with their unique sweet and salty seasoning on them. But these crinkle-cut disasters were unseasoned and flavorless.

On to the burger. It' smelled funny but I took a bite and immediately thought the meat had no seasoning and something was burnt. I ate about half of it before I disassembled it to investigate further and found the meat had no seasoning whatsoever, was way over cooked, and the bun was scorched (see picture).

Sixteen bucks for this? Never again. I'll go to 5-Star in Lodi before I ever set foot in "Burger Shack" again. Too bad the 5-Star guys didn't train you on how to run a burger place after you bought this location out. Another Central Valley institution...

So I spent 29.00 at this restaurant and ordered two combos and they didn’t put anything on it but a patty and sauce a real tiny pieces on an avocado on it and no lettuce and tomato etc I kept calling no one answered finally someone answered but on their receipt it had hammer lane phone number and they gave me the right number I kept calling no answer then I went back to the place and told them so they made it and went back to the car and they put everything on it but the Avocado really how is it an avocado burger without the avocado I will drive all the way to hammer lane no more Wilson way not going there anymore don’t recommend this restaurant go to hammer lane I wasted money there...

It was horrible I ordered a large half and half ice tea and 2 hash browns and was 8.73 got to the window they tell me they are out large cups so they gave me 2 medium and then changed the total to 9.94 so ok I understood that but then the tea was soured tasting and when I told the lady that it was bad she said well I just drank it and it was fine then didn't want to exchange it for something else until I got mad and then she reluctantly gave me 2 medium seira mist's and I said thank you ma'am and she shut the window in my face and I said WOW how rude and drove away I'll never...
