Before even considering to eat their please read the following as I have been a very faithful Patron for the longest time of this establishment. Two years ago the service and the food here was wonderful and there was nothing to disappoint friendly staff efficient service and fair pricing. Unfortunately as of late I cannot say anything nearly as positive. The past two times a few pretty substantially bad situations a rose including one incident where we ordered a barbecue plate and we're serve cubed meat that it clearly come out of a freezer bag drenched in runny buffalo sauce. When we asked the waitress to take this off of our check because we don't want it she went and spoke to the manager and the manager would not refund it or take it off a check even though not a single piece was touched off the plate because it was simply not what my wife had ordered. Enough about the past though let me speak on what just happened this evening. Upon arrival it took about 30 minutes before we were even acknowledged sitting at a table with my wife being 9 months pregnant and are one and a half year old daughter sitting in are laps because we had yet to be brought a high chair. After the server brought the menus and we ordered our food my wife proceeded to go to the salad bar. We did not have any silverware nor were we givin any. My wife got some on her own from the little bar in the back Diner. After that our drinks did not get refilled, not even once until my wife got up and manually did it herself where the waitress was standing behind the bar on her cell phone and just watched her fill up her sprite from the fountain is if it didn't matter that she was getting it on her own. The salad I ordered had shrimp and all the Tails were left on them and the meat was sparse and some was freezer burnt, though they didn't hesitate to charge me $20 for the salad. My wife's chicken tenders we're literally the same as Culver's except a few dollars more and served on a plate instead of a basket. Absolutely horrendous service, at the end only received our check we noticed that the waitress had charged $8.50 for the single trip to the salad bar whereas on the menu it states that a single trip to the salad bar is $4. When we spoke to the waitress about this she began argue so we let it go. The the waitress taking care of the table next to us was clearly in the same category as ours as she didn't even come check on the elderly couple that I could overhear speaking on how they had wished they had more to drink. Their server merely popped in all but one time in the entirety of our stay for dinner. I hate to say it but deaks is letting its standards for its employees go in the gutter. These waitresses should be working at McDonald's and nothing more as they clearly aren't adult enough to handle it. Absolutely ridiculous, completely offended, obviously even though I tip very generously, frequently over $20 every time I'm there our business is not appreciated and I'm now convinced the bbg's across the street will be the better option. In conclusion I did, and was a very faithful patron of this place back when the service was quality and the customers came first but they didn't even have a quality whiskey for me to have with my dinner they merely had Jack Daniels Maker's Mark and some other low standard brands. Do yourself a favor and don't even waste your time for this once wonderful place has gone...
Read moreDeak's is a friendly, reasonably-priced sports pub & grill, located near Stoughton's north side, on the corner just behind Culver's. It's one of the few small businesses that've re-opened their indoor dining, thus far, post-pandemic. Good thing, too, because we'd been yearning for locally-owned bar food, ever since the lockdown began, over a year ago. Deak's offers a variety of seating, currently restricted to block seating between groups, enforcing social-distancing guidelines. Staff are still masking, and expecting patrons to do so, too, unless eating or drinking. Deak's menu is expansive, with portions to match. My companion ordered a steak sandwich, medium, which he reported was one of the most-flavorful and tender that he's EVER had! That's a powerful testament, coming from someone who's no stranger to steak sandwiches! All Deak's sandwiches come with choice of sides: fries, Cole slaw, or soup. I ordered a taco salad with choice of meat. I chose the traditional seasoned ground beef. It didn't come in an edible bowl, but was served on a bed of quality blue tortilla chips. The hefty salad was fresh, along with the toppings: shredded cheese, tomato, onion, black olives, sour cream, guacamole, and salsa. As hungry as I was, almost half of the salad came home with me. We both ordered sodas, which our server refilled promptly, upon noticing that they were nearing empty. Although we didn't order appetizers, it's worth mentioning that Deak's offers a broad selection. Additionally, if you're looking for more, they also offer a select dinner menu, ranging from slabs of BBQ ribs to Friday Fish Fry - baked or fried. Dinners come with choice if potato, choice of salad or soup, and a warm roll (& real butter). Deak's offers a great selection of tap beer; including national brands and seasonal & favorite craft beers, alongside a full array of rail and top-shelf alcohol, for your favorite cocktail. Overall, I'd rank Deak's very good to excellent. The prices are reasonable, the choices and quality of the food is consistent, and the staff is friendly, timely, and authentically care that their customers leave, having had a great...
Read moreVisiting Stoughton, someone suggested Deaks for lunch. It was a Monday, a little before noon, when we arrived. We parked in the lot and were a little confused about where the entrance was. There really isn’t a clear “front” door — you enter through what looks like the back, next to a fenced-off area for the air conditioner.
Inside, it feels like a typical pub, with a large bar area, video poker games (not a fan), and several different seating areas. Since it was a nice day, we chose a spot outside (we were the only ones there). We were greeted right away by our server, who brought waters and drinks.
The menu has a good selection of items. We ordered the Cowboy Burger (on Texas Toast) and a Steak Quesadilla. It didn’t take long for the food to arrive, and everything was hot, flavorful, and served in generous portions. The burger was cooked to a perfect medium. The homemade potato chips were very good and served warm. The tortilla chips were also warm — a nice touch. The quesadilla had a good amount of filling with the steak, though a few pieces were a little tough or gristly. Overall, it was a satisfying meal, and we had enough leftovers to take home.
Overall, a solid lunch spot. Excellent service the entire time (thanks, Colleen). I’d be happy to...
