The food was ok, however the service was not good. I went out for a late lunch with my sister and her kids. I am allergic to gluten so going out is rough but most places are generally understanding and are usually helpful at looking into things if I have a question. I generally stick to simple things if they don't have a gluten friendly menu like salads. In this case most Hispanic foods are ok as long as I avoid fried stuff and flour tortillas. I asked the server if they knew of anything that might be gluten friendly and she said the fajitas. That option was $16 to $30. I didn't need something that huge, but their menu really didn't have much in a taco selection. I asked her about a few of the tacos I saw and she started getting annoyed. I then asked if they had any simple tacos and she pointed me to the sides. I ordered 2 chicken tacos. I asked about the cheese sauce if it might have a thickener in it and the server got mad and gave me attitude and said "you know this isn't a gluten free place. We have too many things on the menu to look into everything." I didn't get disrespectful as I work in customer service but I did let her know how I felt. Now let me just say there were only 2 other tables besides ours. I can see why no one eats here. I wasn't expecting much just wanted to know a few things and she got all rude. I ordered my taco with no cheese. The tacos I got weren't even chicken they were steak, so my order was wrong. At that point I was just over this place. Needless to say I will never be back and I do not...
ย ย ย Read moreWe've dined there 10 -15 times so far and their food, with only one exception, has been some of the best mexican food I've ever had. It's the service...really only one server in particular... that is horrible. We think he might be a manager or an owner but don't know for sure. He's always there. As I read comments from other reviewers who have complained about the service, and hear how their experiences so closely track with our own, I'm sure we're all talking about the same guy. Honestly... this one server is the only one we've ever had a problem with; all the others have been great, language barriers notwithstanding. He's rude and provides very poor service. And the one time I had an issue with the food - my usual fajita was completely and uncharacteristically bland - he said he was the one to make the sauce for it that day and it was the same as always. Like I wouldn't notce such a difference in my usual dish. He offered no apologies, no alternate dish and nothing compensatory. With as good as their food has been, they could really build a large business if they just kept this guy away from...
ย ย ย Read moreSkimping on salsa. Ordered takeout today from La Cantina, chose curbside pickup and took down the number per their online ordering. When we got there the phone number didnโt work so we had to go in. Went in, got our food and went home. When we got home we were surprised to see one very small cup of salsa and two bags of chips. We had ordered five entrees and a large choriqueso appetizer. The choriqueso in our bag was half the size of what normal choriqueso appetizers are at almost every other Mexican restaurant in the area but charged at the same price, about $6.00. We thought there must have been some mixup and went back. We were informed that the choriqueso that we were given was in fact the large and that they only place one small cup of salsa in with the order no matter how many entrees. The only reason I gave them two stars was because the food was okay and the gentleman gave was kind enough to bring us more salsa this time. We wonโt be ordering take out any longer though because one of the best parts of take out is the salsa and other places give you more salsa and much more...
