Went to this food truck place outside the traders shop. The menu was small but that's great for places like this. There's bbq sandwiches, nachos, and ribs and brisket by the pound. The wait was super long but there wasn't a lot of people, per say. But there was only one person at the counter and she was also cooking. That's what made the line move so slow. It was also right after lunch time. I did meet the owners brother though. And learned the owner was owning a full service restaurant. I ordered the brisket and rib sandwiches. Both were very moist and savory. The brisket, although moist, would not have been less tasting with a tad bit of salt. The bbq sauce different than what I'm used to. Rather than a thick sauce it was a thinner sauce but was more peppery, which i liked. The only difference to the sauce i would like to see is it being served warm instead of chilled. All in all, a great stop for lunch!!!! I would stop in again.

A former Dog n Sud's? A&W? Great repurpose into an amazing bbq destination. I should have taken a picture of the building. Super friendly owner and staff, everything very clean, mini golf out back . We were in town for a wedding and stopped in for a "snack". WE COULD NOT STOP EATING. The ribs were ginormous and almost but not quite falling off the bone with gorgeous bark. (All sauce is served in the side.). Pulled pork sandwich was one of the best I've ever had. I'm super picky about globs of fat and I didn't have to sort through the meat before eating. The fries are hand-cut with skin on, served sizzling and salty in a brown paper bag. Stop and get some beer and get ready to settle into a table in the shade for a feast. Dig Doug's would be a fun motorcycle destination ride- a couple hours from the NW suburbs of Chicago riding through the country and near the Illinois and Rock Rivers.

Good actual wood smoked BBQ. I will definitely go again. Doug and staff are extremely friendly. Homemade Root Beer is worth a try. Tastes like a root beer creamsicle. Ribs had good spice to the rub. I would recommend going during the smoking days and times to get fresh ribs. The 50/50 sandwich is a monster. The indoor seating area was cold. Had to keep coats on while eating. Dress appropriately if it's cold outside.

I am awarding Dig Doug’s BBQ five (5) stars. First, this is the best running BBQ I recall in the immediate six-state region (i.e., Illinois and the five surrounding states). Ribs are smoked outside. The aroma is enticing. There is true variety in the sauces. My favorite is a white horseradish sauce. Only time I ever had anything like this was in Nashville. Second, the owner is involved and cares about the customers. It shows. I have visited the restaurant twice - pre and post CoVid. The quality has not changed. It’s obviously because the owner is always present and always involved. I have probably spent a combined hour between visits talking with the owner. He makes customers feel like important people. The owner is giving back to community - always sponsoring local initiatives. My concluding sentence would probably be: enjoy the best BBQ in the region while supporting a mom-n-pop business that is visibly giving back to a low-income community. And don’t forget to purchase dessert! I, D.M. Boren, M.D., hereby pledge my word of honor that I was, in fact, a paying customer; that I am unaware of this business soliciting reviews from customers; and that my review is materially accurate to the best of my knowledge. Moreover, I have neither received any compensation of any form nor have been promised any compensation for writing this review.

Update (10/10/21): I originally wrote that Dig Doug's BBQ was the best BBQ outside St. Louis. Shortly after visiting Illinois, I visited St. Louis. Whatever other restaurant owners' excuses post-CoVid, the ribs I ate in St. Louis were not as good as Doug's. For now at least, I award Doug's ribs #1 in the immediate...
