3/24.....THEY MORE than DOUBLED their price for a piccolo Caesar salad....went from $20.95 last year to $39.95 (online) and approx $43 as spoken by a young woman who should never be allowed to talk to customers on the phone! Seriously? The lettuce costs about $4 at most.......
.SEE BELOW....quality has diminished significantly. 6/5/2023. We tried again because they are close....tried to get a salad to go at 8:38 pm....was told the kitchen closes at 8:30 so nothing can be ordered. Why then are their hours posted to 9pm?
Food here can be excellent, but some days more excellent than others....wish I knew why. Our go-to pizza place and the Caesar salad is also quite good.....
8/5/22 - gave them a mixed review two weeks ago because we got THE BEST pizza we've had in this area and generous delicious salads one week and ordered the exact thing 5 days later - received 1/2 of the salad dressing and "it's okay" pizza.
THIS week, the exact order produced cardboard "we wouldn't order this again" pizza, and salads that were 1/2 size we paid the same for since our very first order...with 1/2 sized dressing.
What is going on? I also read that the owner of Franco's has now acquired Conrad's in Sudbury......PLEASE don't make both our "go to" restaurants into "meh"!
8/12/22 Tried again....explained our previous experience. Pizza last night was excellent. They could not explain the difference in quality. They state it is the same amount of salad, just using a smaller box...and salad dressing container has been permanently downsized.....you'll have to order extra and pay the upcharge.
9/9/22. Alas, we tried again, this time we did not call attention to our mixed experience, just called in a Togo order on a busy Friday night. Meh! We'll be looking for a new go to pizza place. The salads we adored are definitely cut back in size, I don't know what they did to the cheese, but definitely not consistent with the Caesar salad we used to get, different croutons and they've obviously decided to stick with 1/2 sized (compared to what they used to provide) salad dressing. Our standard pizza wasn't bad, but wasn't good enough warrant "go to". Sad, because I believe the owner has now acquired another restaurant in the area we used to rely on.....too bad. Franco's USED to be the best around. Reducing my rating to reflect the reduction in quality...
Read moreMy family used to love getting take out from this place. What happened? Everything we got last night was a massive downgrade, and sold at a huge upcharge.
First was a Steak Bomb which tasted like boiled beef and a slice of unmelted cheese. I couldn't taste (or see, for that matter) the peppers, onions and mushrooms that define the flavor explosion of the "bomb". It was so dry and bready, it gave me hiccups.
Veal parm was smothered in cheese. Mom couldn't tell how the veal was cooked, because of the excessive amount of cheese.
Lastly, a Godfather sub with ingredients tossed in unevenly, and a hard mass of cheese that made the sub difficult for my dad to chew.
This place has fallen so far in just a few months. We'll not ask for a refund, since we ate the food, but we all agreed that we are not going to return here, at least not...
Read moreFranco's is a fun little place where ownership puts a lot of pride in what they make, and it shows. My onion ring app was very good and unexpected. Franco's doesn't take the bread crumbly batter approach, rather the batter bonded very stiff, creating an extra crispy wonderful ring that goes amazing with marinara. My suggestion would be - use the SAME technique with the chicken parm batter. The chicken parm was okay, needed some seasoning and the very light fry coating blended the chicken in with the sauce and cheese (soft all around). The crispy onion ring batter would have been unbeatable with the sauce and gooey cheese. My gelato was excellent - banana and chocolate chip. Service was fast and friendly. Pass on the parm but definitely...
