Maloney's Pub — Restaurant in Summersville

Ok. A review based upon a one time visit because the desk person at the Quality in totally recommended it. In the middle of nowhere. Plain and simple exterior, ditto interior but with definite simple charm. A heated outdoor covered area that was full of great vibes. Inside was very comfortable with numerous TVs playing a variety of sports to please every palate. Good music prevailed, and it was at a perfect volume conducive to listening and talking at the same time. We were told we could sit where we pleased - we did. Immediately we were greated by a fellow (spoke like either a part owner or a super caring employee - (wish i could remember his name to thank him) who gave us a great run down with our questions. To shorten this, the food was delish, prepared from scratch (fresh) including the fries - not frozen - and the hamburger patty I had - fresh made, and a made from scratch salad. Add to this they had super fresh Sierra Nevada Pale Ale that was delicious. Our over night stay was made so much better by our happen chance stop here and I hope to return on my way through again. Got breaded chicken instead of grilled that I ordered, which is a not ideal for my health. I won't die but certainly won't feel great. If server had come by I could have gotten it corrected but we didn't get waited on for about 30-45 min and didn't see her after being given our food until we were ready for the check. No check in for more water or anything until we were ready for check. She gave a small discount for the screw up, which we didn't ask for but appreciate. They have a great deck for dining with dog and the grilled chicken my husband got was terrific, not a prepackaged, thin, breaded chicken puck, but staffing was a problem. Before heading to Fayetteville to the New River Gorge, I visited Summersville as it is known for its beautiful lake. When in a new town, I search where the locals eat and I think I found the perfect spot! This is one of those places I think about from time to time because I had such an awesome experience! I ordered a burger with sweet potato fries and it absolutely was delicious. My server was very kind and attentive, making sure my meal was as expected. The outdoor seating made my experience even better. I love the aesthetic with the different sports teams as decorations. Sadly I live in Pittsburgh, 3 hours away from Maloney's Pub, but next time I'm in Summersville, I'll be sure to come...
