We went to Ichiban last night to dine in for the first time in awhile. We used to go quite regularly, and the first thing we noticed was the remodel of all the booths. Although they were comfortable they were an ugly green color. We were given their new menus which had astronomical prices. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I usually just get veggie sushi but didn’t want to pay $7 a roll for rice and vegetables. Well, little did I realize I had made a grave mistake while ordering. I decided that instead of getting the rolls and paying an insane amount, I’d get the vegetable hibachi dinner that was 16.95. When the food came out I was so shocked. It was half a plate of white rice that was barely fried and done terribly and the other half was vegetables that looked to have come out of a frozen bag. There were very bitter bites that I had to spit out. There was no tofu or anything else. When I had ordered the veggie hibachi I had asked to sub noodles for fried rice. They said that wasn’t possible unless you got a side and I said that I was fine. Apparently I should’ve been more clear because they brought out a small plate of noodles that was $8.99 that I didn’t even order! The noodles were gross. They were not the thick hibachi noodles you’d get at higher quality restaurants. They were over seasoned and disgusting. The final cherry on top was when I ordered a Dr. Pepper, they brought me a bottle which just screams “no free refills” to me. Overall, we used to love Ichiban for take out and for dine in, now we will never go back. I couldn’t believe this and am so sad to have lost a great local...
Read moreDisappointing....My wife and I decided to treat ourselves and go out to eat...unfortunately we choose Ichiban. We like to go to local establishments and support them, but I do not think I will be back here. Waiter was terrible....did not tell us about specials. He did not know how to even serve properly. When he gave me the check, he was hiding behind my chair and quickly took the the check - as if I would be dining and dashing....Now the food....The salad was primarily iceberg lettuce which was drowned in the dressing. My wife had the Tempura Shrimp...the Shrimp was fine but the onion ring tasted like plastic - no flavor. Fried Rice came with the dinner (we wanted noodles, but they refused to do any substitute - even if we paid extra) the fried rice was flavorless, and tasted buttery - not like fried rice. Sushi was overall decent - with the exception of the tuna roll....rubbery. So much for wanting to have a nice meal at a local establishment for a date out....we just picked the...
Read moreFirst time ever ordering hibachi from this restaurant and I was not very pleased. I loved the prices for their dinners and I ordered the chicken hibachi dinner to-go and the chicken was very dry and tough. Past times I've gotten hibachi elsewhere the meat is always super tender and flavorful. This was neither. Could use a lot more flavor and the fried rice had almost no flavor at all. Normally the fried rice is my favorite part of hibatchi but this was very disappointing. The salad was fresh but the dressing seemed watered down and also less flavorful than I've had at other hibatchi/sushi restaurants. This dinner is not near as good as Asiana in Pewaukee or Meiji in Waukesha. The staff however was friendly and the restaurant itself was very...
