To start: The service was impeccable and if not for that, we may have left. Thank you to the long haired brunette, she knew her job and did it well and was is an asset to the restaurant. She could likely make excessive money serving in Charleston. Huntington. or Morgantown. She said they had just hit one year and I fear it's close to over.
To the rest. The restaurant was large and a decent space trying to be a lot of things....axe throwing, arcade, bar, family reataurant, gift shop. Should pick a lane and drive it well. There were thinga needing repair and the furniture was dated and gave it a 1980s greek diner feel. The floors had large gaps between planks filled with food, a pest nightmare.
The food hit different notes. The charcuterie was good, though I feel they may have given way too much for the 10 dollars they charged, meaning cost analysis on dishes is out the window. They had a few bad berries on the plate and but overall it was good and I even found a new favorite cheese the waitress was kind enough to ask the kitchen about for me. A good and tasty value but likely at the detriment of the restaurants balance sheet.
But the wings. We asked for lemon pepper. Instead of lemon pepper butter, or lemon pepper seasoning, they used lemon pepper salt. They were inedible. We wrapped each one in napkins and squeezed the salt off because the salt was burning our tongues. This was a very simple mistake that could have been corrected by anyone sampling the product, or knowing they were using the wrong seasoning, reducing the amount used. It was wild. So salty we only could laugh because it seemed like an absurd joke we weren't in on.
Taps but no draft seem like a wasted opportunity.
And lastly, they have been open a year and their name on Google is still misspelled and listed as "Bax Axe". Overall, a mismanaged moment in a location that can't afford to be making mistakes that make possible repeat customers pass...
Read moreI stopped by the BrAXton Bistro this evening (11 December 2024), arriving somewhen around 4:45pm. I was the only customer at that time.
I was quickly seated, provided a menu, and my drink arrived quickly. The food was excellent. Exactly how it has been many times.
But it was the moment I finished my meal that the service took a sharp nose-dive.
The entire time I was there, the server sat at a table at the opposite end of the dining room that was close to the register.
Within seconds of finishing my meal, the server was at my table asking if I wanted dessert and proceeded to bus the table while I was still sitting at it. She even took the small tray with napkins, and the tables there do not have their own napkin dispensers. Then, she proceeded to stand at the register.
To me, the message was clear. You've eaten; now, pay and get out.
If I had been there during a rush time with most of the tables full and potential customers still coming in, I myself would've hustled right out. But in all the times I've visited the establishment, there have never been more that four out of the ten or twelve tables full.
As of this writing, I cannot honestly claim that I...
Read moreIf you're rolling through Sutton, WV, and in need of a bite before chasing down the Flatwoods Monster or catching a glimpse of Bigfoot, Braxton Bistro is the spot to hit! Let me start with the burger—juicy, perfectly cooked, and loaded with flavor. It’s everything you could want in a classic burger. But the real showstopper? The bruschetta. I’m not sure what magic they’re working in the kitchen, but that dressing they drizzle over it? Chef’s kiss. I could eat it every day and still dream about it.
On top of the food, the Bistro’s got something for everyone—an arcade where you can play board games while looking out onto the street, plus axe throwing for those feeling a bit more adventurous! The decor gives off cozy, cool vibes, making it a perfect spot to unwind.
If you're planning on checking out the Flatwoods Monster Museum or Bigfoot Museum, trust me, you'll want to refuel here first. Best place in town to grab a bite before an adventure. Can’t wait to come back!
I came back! The burgers are just as good as I remember! I don’t understand how it’s so good. They said they just grill it but there has to be something they do....
