So we ate at the cafe it used to be called cafe cimino and was pretty fancy and I hear very good. Well that is a thing of the past. We made reservations for a party of 4 and were seated fairly quickly. We ordered drinks and appetizers consisting of a sweet tea a Dr Pepper and 2 waters with loaded cheese fries. The appetizer was $10 and was not as many fries as a large from McDonalds and they were just as frozen. They had cheese jalapeño peppers and tomatoes on them they wasn’t terrible but they were very lack luster. The waitress did not bother to refill the waters when she took our orders my wife eventually went and got the pitcher from the hostess stand and refilled them herself. We ordered a chicken Alfredo and 3 steak subs my wife ordered hers with American cheese a few minutes later we could here the cook yelling about we don’t have that order off the menu referring to the American cheese and in a few moments came and asked about the cheese choice. After the food was finally brought took about an hour the chicken Alfredo was weird textured and bland and just not good it was a small portion but that’s fine cause it was inedible so we told the waitress who got the manger that proceed to scold us because it was fine and offered to to take half off we asked her to take it all off because none was eaten. The subs were ok they had no mayo or sauce on them so very dry. To make matters worse the walls are thin and were close to the kitchen and had a front row seat to hear the hostess and manger making fun of the customers including us. This was the worst restaurant experience I have had possibly ever. A couple more things to keep in mind if you visit if you got to the restroom while you are here you can be heard peeing by everyone at least in the room we were seated in. Be prepared for slow service while we were here another family came in and was seated after 15mins they left because no one had been back to there table and as far as I could tell we were the only other people there at the time. There was also some kind of black stuff floating in my drpepper I didn’t even drink it. To the restaurant please feel free to contact me I will answer any...

Unfortunately, my visit did not live up to expectations. I reserved a king suite dome while in town for my grandfather’s funeral. At check-in I was told the restaurants hours had shifted for the night and I would need to hurry right back if I wanted any food which I did. (The tomato soup was less than desirable.)
Inside my dome I found a seriously excessive amount of dust everywhere. The dome had not been properly assembled, leaving gaps, which I could see all the way to the ground below the deck on which the done was sitting which created a draft and since I was staying at the beginning of March, it was quite cold because of that draft. There are not enough heaters to account for the West Virginia, wind and cold. I could deal with these things since I did book a tent in March in West Virginia. The real disappointment came in the morning with the breakfast that I was sold at dinner. I stood in the rain knocking on the door for 30 minutes because the only time you could get breakfast was between 8:30 AM to 9 AM. No one ever answered the door after making 10 phone calls. I was informed that the gal who was running the restaurant was sleeping upstairs and she could be down in 10 minutes to begin opening for no I will not I will not. I will not allow it. OK stop please breakfast. This made me angry as you can imagine as I was on a schedule. So I went back to my dome, thinking about how badly my back hurt and looked under the bed to find the bed was broken, bent, and propped up with lots of wood. This is unacceptable a hotel should at the very least have a bed that is not broken and sunken in towards the middle. I attempted to seek resolution but they were not accommodating. They would not refund even a portion of my money after having slept on the lopsided bed in the literal wind...
Read moreThe Elk River Inn and Cafe is by far an unexpected gem and a respite from a long days’ drive. First… my reservation was confirmed for last week, my stomach sank since we were tired, hungry and looking forward to this lovely property. Jill, the manager, assured us we would be accommodated without additional charge. Thank you Jill, thanks a squabillion! Our lovely room overlooked the gorgeous garden, had a peek of the river and a great view of the “glamping domes!” (On my next visit - I will be reserving one of these stunning units!) our room could not be more comfy, well-appointed and with an AC perfect on this killer hot day.
Dinner at the cafe was scrumptious… if the watermelon/feta/balsamic salad is on the menu, you will be remiss if you fail to order this refreshing, perfect blend of flavors. Our pan seared salmon had just the right amount of seasoning, kudos to the chef! Loved the creamy texture of the rice pilaf… but before I stop raving about this experience - we fell in love with our server, Chasity, whose own story truly left us full of joy knowing there are continue to be young people who set goals, work hard and accomplish their dreams! The Elk River Hotel and Cafe is worth the drive! When you stop, tell Jill and Chasity that Thelma and...
