The Rookery Pub — Restaurant in Swansea

The outside of this restaurant had me filled with high hopes and the inside kept those hopes alive....but, unfortunately, were quickly crushed. We were quickly brought to our table by the very nice hostess which was great...but that's where the greatness ended. We waited for roughly 5 minutes before being greated by our waitress, who didn't introduce herself by name, and asked for our drink order, which took roughly 10 minutes to arrive. Then we placed our order which consisted of a goat cheese dip for an appetizer(which was the highlight of the meal) and three burgers of different variety but requested cooked the same way(medium). After another 10 minute wait, the appetizer arrived and was very good which left us eagerly awaiting the burgers we had ordered. 20 minutes later, the burgers were delivered...they looked really good but looks are deceiving...one was cooked on the rare side of life, one was medium well and the other was cooked to a very, VERY well done, not in a good way. Two of the burgers were supposed to come with mayonnaise, but none was to be found. The other burger was supposed to come with Alabama white sauce which was nearly nonexistent. I'm sure we could have gotten the order refired and cooked properly....but our waitress failed to check in on us. After driving for 4 hours, we just ate what was put in front of us. I asked a different waitress for another round of drinks because our waitress was nowhere to be found, she didn't even bring us our 2nd round of drinks. Another 15 minutes had passed and our waitress, Courtney T.(I got her name from the receipt), finally came back and asked if we were all set...didn't ask how our meals were, didn't ask if we wanted anything else....NOTHING! Customer service and food preparation is DEFINITELY lacking at this establishment. For the price I paid for 3 burgers and mediocre, at best, sides( fries and bland, frozen onion rings), I could have and SHOULD have...

If I could rate this 0 stars I would. My first experience with The Rookery, I sat at the bar with friends. Bartender made my drink and proceeded to leave it on the other end of the bar for 15 minutes. I finally had to ask if it was mine. No apology. Food was very good so I chalked it up to them being new.

2nd experience: My friend and I were sat by the hostess at a high top in a completely empty restaurant. We proceeded to sit there for 15-20 minutes before I went and got the hostess to ask where our server was. Meanwhile, 2 bartenders, one exporter and the other host carried on conversations hanging out at the bar while looking at us several times. Bartender finally comes to our table with some excuse, even though we watched her flirt and talk to her coworkers and make personal phone calls on her cellphone during the time we sat and waited. Food wasn't good and service was terrible.

3rd and LAST time I will ever go: My husband and I were sat outside and greeted by a server (I cannot remember her name). She was blunt and not very nice. Waited 45 minutes for our food when it was just us and another couple seated. She never came to check on us before or during the meal. Food was very disappointing. When I went in to use the restroom, I noticed the employees loitering around, carrying on personal conversations, including the Manager.

This place had real potential but their staff is a complete joke and their food has gone downhill in the VERY short period of time they've been open. Save your money &...

We had an excellent time and experience at The Rookery tonight. We were sat right away and the feel is very much like a nicer pub but still very relaxed. All four of us tried a different drink and none of them disappointed at all. The peach old fashioned was excellent. We tried the buffalo wings which fell right off the bone. I also had the chowder and loved it. While it is definitely a thicker chowder it wasn't over the top rich like some can be. The entree were all very good as well. We tried the pizza and the Lark Burger too. The burger was incredibly juicy and cooked to perfection. Our only minor complaint was the food service for the main course took slightly long but the servers were so attentive it didn't really matter. We will be back as there is more we...
