Osaka Sushi — Restaurant in Sweet Home

10/10 for the sushi, 6.5/10 for the orange chicken bento box, 10/10 for the katsu chicken bowl.

Osaka has done a great job making a nice little sushi spot for Sweet Home. The restaurant is very clean and makes for a great sit down spot without being ostentatious.

When we went on Saturday night it was completely full, and they seemed a little understaffed for the rush. Being brand new, a lot of the wait staffed was slightly unsure of exactly what some of the dishes were on the -what I feel like- is a very extensive menu.

I'm personally not a sushi lover, but was able to find something that fit me, the katsu chicken, while the rest of my party enjoyed the sushi and gave it a 10/10. The katsu was flavorful, and the rice was exceptional.

One of our orders was significantly later getting to the table, and the rest of us had almost finished eating when it arrived. Upon getting the tab, that meal was not on the bill, so we chalked it up as a wash. I think it reflects more on them being so new, more than anything else, as the rest of our other food came quickly to our table.

Doesn’t look like much from the outside (in the dark when we were there), but the high reviews pulled us in. The inside was clean and felt true to form. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. I’ve searched for good sushi (mostly rolls) all over the country from WA to CA, UT to KY, and NY to FL. I was surprised that this was some of my favorite…YUM. It’s hard to compare directly, but my son (16yrs) and I were super impressed. The spicy tuna and salmon in our rolls were so tender and tasty. Definitely recommended to all. We are seriously considering another trip over there during our weekend...

We stopped by for lunch after a hike around MacDowell Creek Falls so came appropriately hungry for a good lunch. We ordered an individual meal for each of us plus a roll to share. The individual meals (like shrimp tempura) were good but not as great as the Shotgun roll. That roll really hit the spot. Main complaint with the meals was that they weren't as spicy as indicated, and the tempura vegetables weren't cooked uniformly.

Definitely will go back again. We need to support local restaurants, especially when they bring good food, service, and atmosphere...
