I just came back from France and we rarely had any authentic French cuisine while we were there because they were catering to foreign visitors and we couldn't escape the tourist traps. We got back this week and I decided to look up French restaurants on Google and I was surprised to find there was a French cafe right here in Sykesville. I went there this morning and I firmly believe I have finally experienced authentic French cuisine. I actually had to come home to experience French cooking! This place is absolutely fabulous! TRES BIEN!! The crepes we had were absolutely delicious! The coffee was great as well. What a gem of a find. I'll be regular from now on. I also see that it is extremely popular with other Sykesvillians because it was packed. The atmosphere is quaint and warm. Wonderful experience. The only negative was waiting for the order. Many of us were mulling about bumping into each other and feeling awkward. Not sure if anything can be done about that because it's just bound to get busier as word gets out about this gem of a place. Perhaps being assigned a number and staff can bring out the order when it's ready. I only hope Helene will consider opening the place for dinner at least on weekends with other kinds of French delicacies. If she does that I'm sure that reservations will have to be placed...

My point was- a simple sign or the employee saying there would be an additional cost for this or that is all that’s necessary. Best wishes and have a good day.
Buyer Beware! After a beautiful day in Washington, DC to see the cherry blossoms, we thought we would stop at Starbucks on the way home for a special treat. Instead, we decided to stop at the French twist Café. We both ordered a 12 oz. frappe, which we thought would be very similar to the Frappuccino we would’ve gotten at Starbucks. The prices listed on the board was $4.99. I was SHOCKED when the bill totaled over $20 for the 2 drinks!!!!! When I asked why the discrepancy between the menu price and the actual price, I was told that the coffee and syrups were extra. So what was the $4.99 for?!? Ice and milk?!? Not once did anyone say the coffee and syrups were extra AND it was not posted anywhere. Ridiculous! Never going there again! Also, as we were leaving, a very nice young man attempted to purchase an orange juice. He was refused service because he did not have cash- there was a $5...
Read moreWhen they say crepes I always think nutella. That will always and forever be the best crepe combo. Besides bread and Nutella. Nothing could be greater than a warm, thin, crepe and delicious nutty hazelnut spread.
I'm a basic crepe type of gal. I had never tried savory crepes before so I was a little nervous except until I came to the French Twist cafe. They sure can crepe right!
First of, we walked in and we're greeted with a kind smile and the staff was ready to cater to us. Answered our quick questions and guided us ordering. They have on the house coffee and single origin. Delicious coffee.
On to the crepes: the "Italian" crepe was so amazing! Tomato, mozzarella, spinach, olives, pesto. All that goodness inside a thin, savory, crepe. Of course I had to have my Nutella craving and fix up my sweet tooth so you know that's exactly what I ordered for dessert. It was nice to share the crepes and have a bit of both worlds: sweet and savory.
Love the vibes. Outside seating available as well as seating upstairs for a bigger crowd. This spot is located in a cute spot of town and it's perfect for a little walk to breweries or distilleries afterward.
Nice spot to do some work in or catch up with...
