So I’ve been slacking on my write ups in the last week or so. Well, that’s only half true, I’ve been doing the eating, I just haven’t had much of an appetite for the writing, to hot I guess! LOL. Well you’re gonna need an appetite if you visit this next place. The Big Belly Deli & Bakery in Sykesville. Several of you have mentioned it in your post replies and I will say I’m glad I made the stop! Located just off 32 in the parking lot of the Shell station on Sandosky & Raincliffe, the menu has an eclectic selection of sandwiches that all look awesome. We went with the American Cheesesteak, which comes with LTMH, fried onions and American cheese. They also have a classic PHILLY w whiz (!) which in addition to the ICC I definitely have to come back and check out. For starters, the roll was PERFECT! Fresh baked, not to big or small and it held up to the amount of steak, onions and cheese that was packed into it. This cheesesteak was as good as I’ve had in this area. My buddy got a Cuban which came baked on fresh sourdough, loaded w ham and pressed to crispy perfection! They open early every day for breakfast and then serve up their amazing sandwich menu for lunch. Indoor seating is available and the prices are very fair. They’ve been doing it right for 15+ years and I’ll be back to make up for lost time! Give them a try!...
Read moreThis place never disappoints. I have been going to BBD for years. I can honestly say not one single item on their menu was mediocre. Everything is delicious. I know, I know. "Everything is delicious." Seriously? YES! If you go, you will not be disappointed. I have friends who come from Laurel, MD just to get their breakfast. You can't go wrong with anything you order. My personal favorite is the shrimp salad sandwich. A huge portion of shrimp salad on soft sourdough bread. Next is the corned beef. It won't matter what you order, it will totally satisfy your taste buds. Very generous portions. The staff is friendly as can be. Go get you some. You'll thank me later.
Update 2/9/2022
I still stand by my previous review. The only difference to report is an increase in prices. This increase is on par with other businesses. Notices were posted about a price increase due to new food container regulations. Totally understandable. Even with a price increase, I still believe the "bang for the buck" is worth the extra dough. To be brutally honest, I thought they seriously under charged for their breakfast items. Slightly more in price, still huge food portions. You rock...

I finally remembered to take pics before we dug in! (added below) We ordered our usual, A Cuban Press and French fries & gravy. As you can see, the sandwich is HUGE so my husband and I usually split one. We order a large French fries & gravy and split that as well. Both were delicious, as usual.
Social distancing due to Covid is practiced with limited indoor seating (one of three booths opened and two picnic style benches available - the usual four tops have been removed) and all customers are asked to wear face coverings until seated and eating. There is no outdoor seating available, so I suggest going during non busy times or plan to do carryout. We were there at 1:00 on a Tuesday and had first choice of all seating. Most people were doing carryout.
I had forgotten how much I enjoy looking around at all the little decorations and fun artwork - coupled with conversation it makes it easy to stay off devices and engage with your date!
ALWAYS a yummy meal - the french fries and gravy are the bomb and the Cuban is a...
