I want to start by saying I liked this place and will definitely go back but I want to begin with the constructive criticism so I can end with the good stuff! I am a vegetarian and was super happy to see the availability of some vegetarian options. I was extra excited to see the vegetarian chimichangas. However (you knew it was coming) it was not quite what I expected. The flavor was good, the veggies seemed fresh and flavorful but it was underfilled, mostly just big chunks of red pepper, and it really was more a rolled burrito. There was no lovely deep fried crispy shell. It was soft. Meh. There were a couple of servers wearing an excessive amount of scent. I know it seems like a small thing, and no one wants to tell someone to go easy on it, but in a restaurant, especially a smaller place, it can absolutely affect the experience and the flavor of the food. Every time a cloud of scent wafted by me my food tasted funny the next couple of bites. Your sense of smell is part of the dining experience. Ditch the scent. The chips were unsalted, and the salsa on the table was too hot. Period. Offer a mild salsa or pico too. The servers were all friendly and it was a good experience! We were checked on often and well taken care of. Everything seemed clean and looked good. The flavors on the food were good! Even the rice & beans were good and had actual flavor which in this area is hard to find. I saw homemade flan on the menu so even though I was full I had to try it. Glad I did! The texture was unique, not smooth, but the flavor was perfection! I will be going back,...
Read moreI have been here several times with my girlfriend, so many times that they actually know us and what we order when we walk in. We have been coming here since they first opened and it is for good reason. To start, the chips and salsa are amazing. The chips are never stale and the salsa has an amazing authentic taste. In the beginning, my girlfriend would order different things, which were all good. I would always order three soft shell ground beef tacos, which I order at every Mexican restaurant I go to. I eventually got her to start ordering them too, because they are so delicious it’s insane. The beef has vegetables in it, which no other Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to has done. The beef is so well seasoned, and the soft shells have a slight crisp to them that just adds an extra layer of sophistication to the dish that I really enjoy. The chorizo cheese is exceptional, and the rice is not crunchy like some place’s rice, and it also tastes great. The sopapillas my girlfriend gets for desert are also good. The service is fantastic. They check on you in very reasonable intervals, almost never make mistakes, and are extremely friendly. The restaurant is clean, well structured, and has the beloved interior design that most restaurants of this nature have. The food is also beyond fairly price considering its quality. I will come back here time and time again, and this firmly beats Cancun for my number one Mexican restaurant. Please do yourself and your tongue a favor and visit this place. I cannot possibly recommend it enough. 5 stars, without a...
Read moreMy wife, daughter and I went there for dinner around 5pm on a Friday. It wasn't quite "weekend" busy yet. Started by ordering a regular Modelo michelada the waiter came back and said I could only get it in a large. He came back with a 32oz mug. It had about eight tiny ice cubes in it that had already melted, beer was flat, tomato juice almost non existent and had no lime juice in it, just a tiny lime slice onthe rim. It was basically an undrinkable flat, watery, slightly reddish beer. I ordered the Carnitas dinner, my wife had the grande chicken burro with enchilada sauce, my daughter had a chimmichanga. The waiter left and returned less than 5 minutes later with our food....never a good sign. My carnitas had three chunks of meat, it was enough for maybe two tacos. The carnitas were never crisped on the grill, just three squishy cubes of meat, a guacamole salad that had sopping wet lettuce, so that everything was sitting in water, one half of a tomato slice, a pile of pickled jalapeno slices from a jar, rice and beans. Very sad and disappointing. My wife's burrito had no red sauce, instead it had queso on top, the chicken was rubbery and way overcooked, sitting in the same watery salad and avocado mess, just like mine. My daughter's chimmichanga was the same rubbery chicken, sitting in a watery lettuce and sour cream bath. There are too many good taco trucks in this town to have so many subpar Mexican restaurants. Once was enough to not return. Not...
