The Hawaiian Burger at Morty’s Cafe in Syracuse was one of the most unique and delicious burgers I’ve had in a while. It was a perfect combination of sweet and savory, with a twist that made it stand out from the typical burger options. The burger itself was cooked to perfection, with a juicy, flavorful patty and crispy bacon adding that savory, smoky element. What really set this burger apart, though, was the jalapeño jam.
The jalapeño jam wasn’t spicy in the traditional sense—it didn’t have that overwhelming heat that some people fear—but it added just enough of a mild kick to make the flavors pop without overpowering everything else. The sweetness of the jam paired so beautifully with the savoriness of the burger, and it helped balance the richness of the cheese and bacon. It was slightly tangy, with just enough of that jalapeño flavor to give it some depth, but the heat level was perfect for someone who wants just a hint of spice without it being too much.
Another great touch was the fresh, soft bun that held everything together without getting soggy. It was the right texture to complement the juicy patty and the sweetness from the jam. The burger was generously portioned, and I definitely felt like I got my money’s worth.
I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the combination of jalapeños and sweetness, but it ended up being an absolutely amazing flavor pairing. Morty’s did a great job in making a Hawaiian twist on a burger feel fresh and exciting without being gimmicky. The crispy bacon, melted cheese, and that hint of sweetness from the jam all combined to make this burger a standout option on the menu. It’s definitely something I’d order again in a heartbeat.
Overall, the Hawaiian Burger at Morty’s is a must-try if you want something unique but familiar. The flavors are well-balanced, and it’s a burger that feels comforting while still offering a fun twist. If you’re a fan of trying out different and exciting burger combinations, this one is an absolute winner. Highly...
Read moreI am shocked by all the good reviews. Maybe it was just a bad night but I paid almost $60 including tip to feed four people. It was $20 for a Philly burger with an extra patty and no peppers & fries...note all special requests were on the receipt so they just didn't follow them....Philly burger had peppers, both the burger patties were TINY...Definitely not the 1/3 pound patties advertised...not even close. Philly burger was missing the Philly meat...not even sure what to say about that. Ordered a turkey bacon sandwich...requested a different bread...it was on the receipt and the person who checked me out assured me that she would make sure they used the right one...they didn't...and the incorrect bread was BURNT...badly. Both the regular and sweet potato fries were so salty they were barely edible...I love salty fries so me not being able to eat them says a lot. Not even mad about this part but worth noting they didn't actually have the item on their kids menu that I ordered and had to change it after they let me order it. We had such high hopes for this place, we spent a lot of money at Scratch Burger and we were thrilled when we were told this place opened and was owned by the same people. After this experience I can't say we'll be back...it was extremely disappointing. I wouldn't recommend anyone go drop $60...
Read moreI'd heard great things about the Morty's up in Logan so I wanted to give this new one in Syracuse a try. I was hesitant based on the mixed reviews, but figured I'd give them a fair chance. Unfortunately, it was a pretty big letdown.
The atmosphere isn't much to be impressed by and feels kind of dirty, especially for a new place. Maybe they're still getting settled in.
I was hoping to try their scone fries, but they didn't have any so I just ordered the Hawaiian burger with regular fries. Luckily I checked the order before paying because the gal at the register didn't even select the right burger so I had to correct that. The food came out pretty quick, but I soon discovered the same thing as previous reviews that the middle of the burger was still pink and uncooked. I'm not sure if their cooks just aren't familiar with cooking burgers or what, but uncooked burgers aren't something I like to risk. Definitely won't be back unfortunately.
On top of that experience, the prices are way overpriced for what you get. You have to order fries separately from the burgers, so no meal option, and the burgers alone start at $8 and go up to near $20 with add-ons for what seemed like a very...
