Drove 40 minutes from Wilburton while on vacation to eat here based on the reviews and were not disappointed. The food was excellent! We did have a hard time finding the right road because Google maps did not label it correctly. It's across the street from the Faith Pentecostal Church between a used car lot and bank. It just looks like an old metal building at the end of the road and what you see first is VFW with a small Outlaw BBQ sign.
My husband got the brisket, coleslaw and potato salad. The brisket was a bit dry in spots but the BBQ sauce was smoky and delicious. The potato salad was equally as good. I got the special they have on Friday and Saturday nights of hand-cut ribeye steak, and it was fantastic! It was a bit tough to cut, but it was still juicy and the seasoning was perfection. The baked potato was delicious too. Don't know if it was the butter or sour cream they use, but it was large and I could have made a meal out of that alone (great option for vegetarians). We also got the blackberry cobbler which was small but delicious as the rest of the food.
We had an excellent young man waiting on us who was so polite with his "yes mam" and "yes sir". Unusual to hear these days. All in all, we will definitely be returning here again if ever in the area and...
Read moreBless their hearts, if that was them trying to make a decent meal, I’d be afraid of what it’s like when they’re not trying. Only reason I’m giving it 1 star is because you can’t put zero. The tea was bad, the spicy sausage was hard, there’s an up charge for having salad as a side, and there’s a 4% up charge for using a card. The Texas toast was plain and dry. The fries were cold. The salads were about 6 bites of food, came out of a freezer preprepped, and they were scary. The ranch was a solid block that plopped out of my container and wouldn’t spread. The waitress was a moody 16 year old who hid in a closet on her phone when she wasn’t bringing plates out. Everyone tried arguing with us that they don’t make bad tea because they’re southerners. We’re 99.9% positive the baked beans were a can of Bush’s Maple Baked Beans and they were the only good thing we had on the table. It was disappointing to say...
Read moreStopped in on a Saturday about an hour before closing and there was still a good-sized crowd finishing up their meals. The dining room is spacious and was very clean. I ordered the one-meat sandwich plate (minus bun, specifically requested) with chopped brisket, pinto beans & Cole slaw. The brisket was succulent and cooked to perfection-didn’t even need sauce, which I ordered on the side (and it was delicious!). The Cole slaw and beans tasted very fresh and made from scratch (which our server confirmed when I asked). Our server was awesome-very attentive without hovering, answered all our questions about the different meats, made some excellent recommendations, which we thought were spot on. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking...
