I just had the worst experience at this location out of all the times I've come here. The ice cream is great and the staff has been friendly and accomodating in the past, but today there were new people. I wanted 2 scoops but I didn't want my ice cream touching since they were 2 different flavors, so I asked that one scoop be put in a separate cup. The cashier girl insisted on charging me for 2 individual scoops and I shared with her that I went to another location and they just charged me .32 for the additional cup, which made sense and I was totally fine with that. At this location, the girl said there wasn't a button for that and continued to insist I pay for 2 individual scoops. I asked for a manager. He's the one who rung me up and the name James is on the receipt. I guess he's new and inexperienced at the position of a manager. Instead of being helpful and coming up with some sort of creative solution, he simply reiterated what the cashier said. How hard is it to just separate 2 scoops of ice cream so they won't touch, and still charge as if it were two scoops together? How disappointing and unnecessarily frustrating!
I suggested they just put the other scoop in the top (or lid) of the cup and add my military discount. When I got to the window, that's what happened, and the transaction was fairly smooth with little conversation. As soon as I got my ice cream he quickly closed the window, without so much as a 'have a good day' or anything.
I won't be back to this location.
Please do a better job training your managers. Especially if they're inexperienced...

He not only gave me extra fudge (due to my little one eating all the fudge in my sundae, but he also gave us a pup-cup for our dog who went along for a car ride! She cldnt stop wagging her tail the whole drive home lol. Thank you James! Most employees will not do the extra step, but he did with no hesitation. We will be going back just because of him and the great icecream and treat for our (big) puppy. He actually deserved the tip we gave him.
Pricey, but very good! No complaints here. Since we buy icecream here so much, just wish the tharpe location would participate in the chain's website loyalty club and discounts.
Edit: i have changed my review from 4 stars to 5 stars. the Tallahassee chain contacted me. They have their own rewards for their store. My family and I will (& have) continue to go to the tharpe location because they have the best hot fudge sundaes and it's a pretty cool reward, pun intended, for my son (and my husband) after working/playing hard in the hot...
Read moreVisited Tallahassee to drop our son at college, after dinner we all wanted a little dessert, so we searched for “dessert near me” and Bruster’s popped up as a choice. We had four people in our group and the super-pleasant lady who helped us could not have been more accommodating as we looked through their vast menu and taste tested a few flavors. In addition to their daily menu, they also feature specials. Today’s were Blueberry Cobbler and S’mores, our group tested both and agreed they were delicious but after a huge meal we lacked the space. Ultimately, we got three, two scoop cones and sat out on their tree lined veranda. It was a tasty dessert in a cute location served by a super friendly staff. Highly recommend.
Delicious Ice Cream Extensive Menu
Part of their parking lot belongs to Well’s Fargo Bank and during normal bank hours you cannot park there so pay attention to the signs. It is NOT obvious since the parking spots are on Bruster’s side...
