Waffle House — Restaurant in Tallahassee

I'm a fan of Waffle House. Have been long time. This was my second time visiting this location and I noticed they are not all the same depending on management. This location is a smoke-free environment. That means no smoking. Seat yourself. Delivers with Postmates. "Video recording in use for management, training, and investigative purposes." Open 24 hours.

My experience: My order was not made to my liking but the store did not have any issues re-making it or accommodating me. Im selective in what I eat so I try to make myself as clear as possible when I do dine-out. I normally like to make my observations beforehand as well. Gas and other chemicals can be infused or transmitted so I may be hesitant to order. I've been food poisoned before so little details help. Verifying the food is safe along with the people or tools cooking/serving the food.

Food Quality: The biscuits are not made in house or from scratch. They receive them precooked cut them in half The waffle batter is made with shortening, and half/half creamer. The steaks are already pre-packaged. Coke beverage products along with coffee, orange juice and chocolate milk. Also available at this location are chocolate chip and blueberry waffles. All meals are cooked to order. All the foods are not made for everyone to eat so if you have health issues or allergies best to let the server or cook know beforehand.

Customer Service: I briefly interviewed both customers and employees during my visit and they were overall happy with their experience. Servers need to be more attentive when there are.

Cleanliness: Bathroom was clean on all visits. Exterior & Interior were moderately clean.

After eating at waffle.houses from Exit 196 all the way to Texas and back. All were good experiences. EXCEPT one - This was by far the worst. Exit 299 Tallahassee... We were given plastic silverware in a packet to use. The ONE (only one) other customer had real silverware. Our waitress sat at the counter with her back to us the entire time. We had to ask her to get the coffee that she forgot about. Our food arrived and looked terrible. Onions that should've been inside the hasbrowns were just tossed on top, undercooked on the inside burnt on the outside. Same onions ended up on the plates and in the food of our other dinners that didn't have onions. Eggs not cooked, sausage and burger patties drenched in oil, hashbrowns tasted like oil. Sausage gravy came out in a paper cup it was cold. When I asked our "server " for hot gravy... she told the cook that "we must think we are special ". I want to be very clear here. This waffle house was empty. Only 1 other customer. At least he got silverware. The dishwasher was working. Should be no reason dine in customers eat off plastics esp if there's only one other customer.... It was abundantly clear that these employees were going out of the way to "not" work. I hope the franchise owners are aware of the lack of service and lack of food quality and cleanliness these employees provide to us "not special" yet...

Not a bad place after going out drinking just to get something in your stomach, but… I will say they really need to get a food and safety inspection done by corporate. Messy floor where there was a whole puddle not cleaned up where someone could get seriously injured if they were to slip, even if there was one wet floor sign (this was right as you walk in!). Messy floor in the cooking area as well and it didn’t look like they cleaned the spot for grits and eggs for a few hours. Employees were wearing gloves, but not washing their hands and replacing them after wiping off sweat, rubbing on their clothes, and touching other foods. I noticed a worker was making toast and happened to wipe off sweat off of his face and used the SAME hand to pick up fresh toast for a to-go order. He also gave my friend dirty looks and shook his head at him a lot and I wasn’t comfortable with that. Only pro: Diamond was a great waitress and a sweetheart and the food was alright. But needless to say, I recommend going to another 24 hour breakfast place or to another Waffle House in the area and to consider...
