Wow! I've been here before but this visit was even more exceptional. I've never been here during their Christmas decor. I had no idea that they do this amazing holiday overload. Every inch of the place is covered in Christmas but it's all tastefully done. The twinkle of the Christmas lights everywhere and the glitter of the ornaments hanging from the ceiling just makes such an incredible atmosphere and it was really enjoyable.
The food was top-notch. Usually housemade dressings are very hit or miss, these ones are for sure a hit. I had the ranch, my husband had the blue cheese, and we were both really happy with them!
Being a vegetarian I feel like the effort made on the salad says something about the rest of the food. If you can tell a restaurant has put some actual effort into their side salad (having a nice selection of veggies, good cheese, good dressing) it's usually a really good sign that the rest of the menu is going to be good. If they put that much thought into their regular garden salad there is usually a lot of thought put into the rest of the menu. This rang true at Sammie's!
My husband had the meatloaf and thought it was absolutely fantastic. He loved that they individually grilled each slice to give it a little something special. I had the mac and cheese (minus bacon) and it was excellent. They broil a thick layer of cheese and bread crumbs on top which I loved since mac and cheese can sometimes be bland.
One note is that the menu online differed from the actual menu in the restaurant by just a couple of items. The server told us that they have some seasonal items and they adjust the menu with the seasons. So if you are going there with the intention of getting something very specific you may want to call ahead to make sure that item is still available. Even if it's not I am sure you will find a delicious alternative because their menu is extensive is really solid.
It was very busy in there but I attribute that to the popularity of the Christmas stuff they do and that they are preparing to be featured on a television show coming up. Despite being quite busy the staff did an excellent job of turning over tables while still providing good service. We only waited about 20 minutes for our table (which is within the range they estimated) and our server was great about being attentive enough to turn the table over but not having us feel at all rushed.

Read moreUsed to absolutely love Sammie’s and supported them for the past several years. Every occurrence we’ve had in 2025 has been sub par and meh at best. From servers to atmosphere and food. The quality of the food has gone down as to have more greasy burgers instead of less grease, the fried foods have seemed to be also more fried and greasy not the crisp greasy. The real event that took the cake was today’s events on 11/1. Begun with me calling around 5 pm to see what their hours were as a Facebook post had said they were closing on 10/28. I spoke with Samantha on the phone and said open til 10. Nothing about there was an extra wait time or reservations recommended. A party of 5 we show up, 4 adults one infant. We’re told 15-20 min wait. After 45 mins we ask about the wait time with the hostess staff they said just a few more minutes. After over 65 mins were called but called to a high top… there are no high chairs to fit the high top and were met by the 3 hostess gals saying to use the booster seat they have with no straps. For my INFANT 9 month old. No child in a booster should be sitting at a high top. Still at this point no manager has said anything and I waited at the bar to talked to Lynn but she was too busy after my 15 mins waiting to talk to her. Hostess attempted to find us a table but never communicated. I spoke multiple times with the girls about communicating and if you didn’t know a 9 month old can’t sit by themselves even when we requested a high chair how about asking. We ended up walking out because no one still knew where we were going until the very last second with a screaming child to put us somewhere. We walked out because the audacity and the way this is being run is embarrassing. We weren’t even the only ones with issues tonight while waiting the hostess gals even admitted to 2 other different parties they messed up and had to wait. I fully understand people learning but this is utterly unacceptable and we will no longer be returning to Sammie’s. Best of luck to our favorite servers...
Read moreHorrible experience at this restaurant tonight. Customer service by Lynne the owner was very unprofessional and the attitude of not caring at all to the point of looking at us with a belligerent grin. Living in Tallmadge we have patronized this restaurant very frequently, even having big groups there. As of tonight, we will no longer be going back and will be sharing our experience with all of our friends that go there. Person in our group ordered the $8 candy cane martini because she loved it last year and was looking forward to it this year. Last year it had a sugar rim around it. She specifically said to make sure there was sugar around the rim. Martini comes and no sugar. Waitress said they no longer put sugar around the rim, even though the definition of it on the menu said, "sugar around the rim". So the person in our group said she didn't want it then. Lynne could have gotten another martini glass, put sugar around it and poured it in the new glass , everything would have been fine. But she didn't. She didn't even come over to apologize or explain. Nothing. Just a stupid little grin like, "who cares". Reason for this review is mostly because the bill came and the drink was on the bill. Waitress said because of alcohol it had to be billed. And now Lynne is really smiling. We had dinner reservations for a group next week and on the way out we cancelled the reservation. Not as smart as you think you are Lynne. Your husband and daughter put your customer...
