Pisco is a good-sized restaurant with a good mixture of tables and booth seating. We were greeted at the door promptly but right away ran into Spanish speaking only hostess. While someone else came to assist, it definitely set the pace for the night for us. As soon as we mentioned we don't speak Spanish we got whisked off to what I would call the English only table right by the servers doorway and front door area all by itself. I would normally would have asked to be moved to the more active part of the restaurant where everyone was being seated. The main part of the restaurant had music playing and was very alive but instead decided to just keep my review going. We did get a server that spoke English well enough to help guide us through the menu questions we had. We ordered our food with no problem as we just pointed at a number on the menu. Now, with that said, the service overall was good but did leave a little disappointment that we did not feel fully welcome. We have been to several other places with the same language issues. The only difference was their restaurants treated us amazingly and made us feel welcome. They spoke broken English and we felt comfortable enough to try to speak Spanish and had a wonderful time. Ok, let me move on! Now food wise Pisco has wonderful food full of flavor. Everything we ordered was cooked perfectly. Their menu is perfect for those who want to try something new and exciting. We started off with some Yuca Frita as an appetizer. For dinner, my girlfriend had Jalea de Mariscos, which was an amazing seafood dish with octopus, squid, mussels, shrimp, and fish served with fried yucca and pickled onions, corn, tomato salad i guess. I went with chicharron de pollo with white rice. I have to say the Jalea de Mariscos was a massive serving and would definitely satisfy anyone with a craving for seafood. The atmosphere would have been good if only we were seated where the lively vibes were happening instead of the lone table. We plan on going back again to see if we have the same experience or if we have a better experience. Also we would love to try more of their menu as we were very satisfied with the food which is the star of all restaurants. I almost forgot something cool that they do at Piscos. They offer photo opportunities to be taken of you while dining. They take pictures of multiple poses, then print and frame right there for purchase. I thought it was a...
Read moreFour years ago I would have rate this restaurant 5 stars +. Friday I went with other 3 ladies and I regret I took my friends to this place. The food was not bad but really portions are smaller and prices are higher. The servers were friendly but I have to wait over an hour for a glass of water unacceptable. The karaoke was fun and entertaining. My biggest complain is the atmosphere on Friday July 29th. I think owners and administrators should pay attention in what is happening at the bar and reserve the right to call the attention if behavior is not proper. A couple was at the very corner at the entrance of the bar the whole time we were there. It was disturbing what they were doing. Not good for a family restaurant when these two were all over each other, I mean ALL OVER they had their hands inside the others pants and the man kept touching the woman’s butt inside the tiny black shorts she was wearing. Another lady join this couple and they both starting dancing Like being in an strip club. This is not a strip club or an adult playground. They can do what ever they want but not in front of the whole clientele. There were children and complete families and they all were talking about this. Another situation: there was a MAN THAT WAS JUST DANCING IN FRONT IF OUR TABLE. AND TRYING TO DANCE wirh ANY WOMAN WHO CROSSED HIS PATH. We had to pretend we were on the phone so this MAN GOES AWAY. Not nice. Summary not going there any time soon. Not happy very sad because I used to like this place. Heads ups families and ladies not a...
Read moreFood was awful, service left much to desire, and unwelcome flying pest.
We ordered "papa a la huancaina, wontons (highly recommended by the server), lomo saltado, and bistec a lo pobre."
papa a la huancaina was decent, but the portion size was a lot smaller than what you'd receive at other Peruvian restaurants. It also lacked the traditional garnish of a halved boiled egg.
wontons. DO NOT ORDER. Absolutely horrible and had very little filling.. if any. If you want to buy fried store bought frozen wonton wrappers with no filling order them.
lomo saltado was okay. Presentation not appealing.
-The bistec a lo pobre highly disappointing. I was asked how I wanted my steak and I said medium-rare and got a well done steak. A salad drenched in dressing where it seemed as if they just grabbed the bottle and squeezed it on top of the salad to the point were it made it difficult to tell what was in it. There were pieces of other foods ex. Cilantro in my dish that were not part of it.
On top of all of this, as we eating our main dishes, flies were noticeable in the establishment. They began to bother us. I lost my appetite.
The experience with staff: Really pushy in the beginning. Asked us for our orders as soon as we sat down, but never came to check on us during our meal (ex: how's the food? Would you like another drink? Etc.)
We also came because their menu online stated that they had picarones (peruvian sweet potatoe/pumpkin donuts covered in a syrup of a raw sugar and spices). However, the waitress told us they...
