Sakana Sushi Restaurant - The Confluence of Hygiene and Culinary Excellence in Tampa

Nestled in the lively city of Tampa, Sakana Sushi Restaurant is a culinary treasure that masterfully combines a dedicated focus on cleanliness with an outstanding dining experience. During my recent visit to this charming establishment, I was not only struck by the immaculate surroundings but also by the exceptional quality of their sushi dishes.

From the moment I stepped into Sakana Sushi Restaurant, it was evident that maintaining a spotless environment is a paramount concern. The tables were meticulously arranged, the decor was tasteful, and the overall atmosphere was flawless, creating a hygienic and comfortable dining environment.

Now, let's explore the sushi. Sakana's sushi is a true showcase of the Japanese culinary art. I had the privilege of savoring their "Chef's Special Sashimi Platter," and it was a culinary masterpiece. Each piece of sashimi was a fresh and flavorful delight. The presentation was exquisite, highlighting the restaurant's commitment to both aesthetics and taste. The freshness of the fish was remarkable, and the textures and flavors reflected the restaurant's dedication to serving top-tier sushi.

The menu at Sakana Sushi Restaurant offers an extensive range of sushi and other Japanese delicacies, from classic rolls to innovative creations. However, it's their unwavering dedication to cleanliness and their exceptional sushi that truly set this restaurant apart.

Sakana Sushi Restaurant's ambiance is both welcoming and sophisticated, with Japanese-inspired decor that enhances the overall dining experience. It's the ideal setting for a romantic dinner, a gathering with friends, or a special celebration.

This is my go-to nearby sushi place. After coming here for a while and trying different things, now I typically settle on a lychee martini, the volcano roll, and a couple pieces of nigiri. It’s not cheap, but the prices are reasonable for the quality. The menu offers a pretty large selection so if I wasn’t such a creature of habit, I’d have plenty of choices. The sushi is excellent and fresh. The service is very good; the only time a server messed up my order I ended up with more sushi than I asked for (she didn’t charge me for the erroneous larger order), so I can’t really complain. I wish they would do something to spruce up the atmosphere in the restaurant to make up for the COVID precautions of hand sanitizer and plastic screens. There is a small outdoor dining area that they could do something nice with. A pleasanter atmosphere would bump up my rating to four stars.

Solo diners — You have a choice of sitting at the sushi bar or at a table. They have never denied my request to sit at a table, even seating me in a booth when all the 2-person tables were taken. The servers check in with me just the right amount and one of the servers now recognizes me as a regular. I often see other solo...

I was greatly disappointed with what I received for the price. First of all, let me give them credit for what was good. Excellent quality eel in the eel roll and great conch nigiri sushi. But while the amount of eel to rice is perfect, the whole roll is much too small. And the maki sushi dinner had salmon, tuna and yellowtail rolls but they were miniscule. The presentation is also lacking, no decorative greens just sushi in a container. Izakaya Tori and Tampa Tokyo have much larger portions with the same freshness and quality but the price is less and the presentation is better. Also when you are out of Toro bluefin tuna and someone orders it there should have been a notification that it was unavailable, you had my phone number and email. The servers were very apologetic but the wait when I added the conch was ridiculous. If I had been told there was no bluefin available I could have made my changes to my order and it would have been ready in a more timely fashion. Other guests had to wait for their orders as well I noticed and the younger server could not keep her mask over her nose which makes it useless. I will not return which is a shame as the reason I went there was to...

Wow. What a pleasure it was to dine here. We’ve found that Tampa restaurants often ride the hype of their parent company or the social media buzz of their launch day but what a treat it was to stumble upon a hidden gem such as Sakana with little to no media presence and have the single best sushi/Asian style small plate meal we’ve easily had in the area. We had the edamame, miso soup, fried rice, pork dumplings, Philly roll, salmon tempura roll and tempora fried cheesecake. All were incredible. Our bartender Jennifer was equally amazing. The cleanliness, responsive staff, food quality, recommendations, plethora of options and more were more than enough reasons to dine here. Try it. And tell Jennifer you saw this review first.

It’s been quite a while since I found a good sushi place. My boyfriend and I wanted some sushi and ended up here for dinner. I read a few review and I do agree their yellowtail belly/regular is delicious! Their fish and rice ratio is perfect. The sushi rice was a bit hard when we came by, but it’s our fault for coming late. The waitress was super friendly and check up on us often. It is on a pricy side, but it’s delicious. I also like the atmosphere. The parking is a bit tight and limited. There’s only one entrance in and out. Would come back again and see how consistent their sushi is, but highly recommended.

Definitely give them a try. We have been Delicious & great service. No complaints! My little one/ 10yo loves the California roll, Edamame & plain white rice. Personally, I think the Volcano Roll is delicious. The Eel sauce is a little sweet, but perfect pairing! Considering customer service is lacking and sub-par these days, it is very nice to receive excellent service. We were very fortunate to have Allen as our waiter. He is very knowledgeable & extremely polite. We took our time ordering. He did not rush us at all. Casual & business attire seems acceptable. The environment was relaxing & comfortable.
