Read moreThis is my go-to nearby sushi place. After coming here for a while and trying different things, now I typically settle on a lychee martini, the volcano roll, and a couple pieces of nigiri. It’s not cheap, but the prices are reasonable for the quality. The menu offers a pretty large selection so if I wasn’t such a creature of habit, I’d have plenty of choices. The sushi is excellent and fresh. The service is very good; the only time a server messed up my order I ended up with more sushi than I asked for (she didn’t charge me for the erroneous larger order), so I can’t really complain. I wish they would do something to spruce up the atmosphere in the restaurant to make up for the COVID precautions of hand sanitizer and plastic screens. There is a small outdoor dining area that they could do something nice with. A pleasanter atmosphere would bump up my rating to four stars.
Solo diners — You have a choice of sitting at the sushi bar or at a table. They have never denied my request to sit at a table, even seating me in a booth when all the 2-person tables were taken. The servers check in with me just the right amount and one of the servers now recognizes me as a regular. I often see other solo...
Read moreI was greatly disappointed with what I received for the price. First of all, let me give them credit for what was good. Excellent quality eel in the eel roll and great conch nigiri sushi. But while the amount of eel to rice is perfect, the whole roll is much too small. And the maki sushi dinner had salmon, tuna and yellowtail rolls but they were miniscule. The presentation is also lacking, no decorative greens just sushi in a container. Izakaya Tori and Tampa Tokyo have much larger portions with the same freshness and quality but the price is less and the presentation is better. Also when you are out of Toro bluefin tuna and someone orders it there should have been a notification that it was unavailable, you had my phone number and email. The servers were very apologetic but the wait when I added the conch was ridiculous. If I had been told there was no bluefin available I could have made my changes to my order and it would have been ready in a more timely fashion. Other guests had to wait for their orders as well I noticed and the younger server could not keep her mask over her nose which makes it useless. I will not return which is a shame as the reason I went there was to...
