This review is when we went as a group on October 4th, I’m a director for a car club and I personally love pizanos, so I figured it would be a great place to stop for lunch going through Taos (roughly 30 people). So I gave the restaurant a heads up a week before hand and we agreed if they had available seating we were more than welcome to eat there. We showed up and were then yelled at by I’m presuming was the owner Charlie (I think that’s his name) that there was too many of us and we couldn’t put the tables together on the patio unless one person was paying for everyone (shocker they were dead when we walked in, so there’s literally no reason they couldn’t serve us, I guess he doesn’t like money?). But they never refused us service, so we dined in for lunch, the food was great and the actual servers were awesome and did a fantastic job the entire time.
Fast forward to the end of the meal, Charlie tried forcing a 20% gratuity on all the checks saying we were a group and thus it was mandatory but were forced to sit separate at normal tables thus have individual checks as if you were to dine in normally. When I asked him to remove it he started raising his voice at me telling me that they weren’t staffed to serve us (again the staff did amazing, kitchen and front of the house so I don’t see any problem there, no faith in his employees?) proceeded to raise his voice that we never should have showed up and given him our business. How do you not have the staff to serve only just your patio, that’s all the room we took, on a Saturday lunch at that, if the restaurant got busy and filled up are you going to yell at every customer that walks in? Make that make sense from a management perspective.
If this isn’t true Taos culture I honestly don’t know what is! Business owners hating business is just comical. I’ve been a long time fan of pizanos and have spent hundreds of dollars there. But I will not be returning and would much rather take our club, who does this 2-3 times a year to a resturant who actually appreciates business.
Oh my favorite part is when I ordered food for the table he told me “that’s a lot of food, you don’t need all that food” I’m not sure if he thought it was just for me, or what but what kind of...
Read moreWhile making our yearly trip to Taos to visit family, my husband and my parents decided to try out this pizza place. First off, the food was ok.The prices were way too expensive for the pizza to just be ok, even in Taos. Now, the service...I will say that it took some time for our orders and drinks to be taken. But they did show up in a timely manner. The reason, I will never go back is because my purse was stolen by my chair while we were seated at the table. I never got up, and I know where I put my purse. However, when I went up to the cashier to see if by the off chance that someone had turned it in I received a "oh no", and "good luck." then they proceeded to tell me how the people behind us wouldn't have taken it. I didn't accuse any particular person taking my purse. I just said, my purse is gone, and I believe it has been stolen. I then proceeded to look in my car and outside just in case, but I knew it was stolen. I went back in the restaurant clearly upset. The managers and waitresses all passed by and did not ask if I had found it and didn't offer any help or concern. I left a number at the cashier, to give them another chance to offer help or express some kind of concern that this happened in their establishment. I got nothing. They finally called my husband's number, since my phone was in the purse. They only called to offer help because my Aunt, who lives in town and is a fairly frequent customer called them first. They should have offered help while we were at the table. I was treated very poorly and I know there are other restaurants in Taos with better food, prices,...
Read moreI LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! My husband and I came in on our monthly date night and the food, atmosphere, service, location, etc. is just superb!!! I've been here a few times and I always have such a great time. I live sitting outside where I can enjoy the view of the mountains. The servers are just wonderful and pleasant. My server was Gabe, it was obvious he was training, but I must say for being a trainee the man was calm, cool and collect. He didn't get short tempered with me when I couldn't make up my mind. He was awesome as all the servers are. The menu is phenomenal. I have a horrific gluten allergy and their menu accommodates not only my food allergies, but what ever my delicate stomach can't handle. Everything is fresh, you can see the cooks working diligently and expeditiously to get the food out nice and hot. As you can see from my pictures (half eaten) the veggies are fresh, the wings are impressively large and bathed in sauce. The atmosphere is unique. I live all the art all over the walls, it's quiet and peaceful. The kind of place you want to kick your shoes off and relax. My favorite part is the selection of alcohol beverages. Wine, beer, imported and tap. Great place for a quick bite or just a good cold one with friends. PLEASE STOP BY, YOU WONT...
