Very disappointed in our dinner at this restaurant. This place will not remain in business for very long if they continue serving poorly prepared food and charging a premium price for sub par quality.
We had early reservations for dinner to avoid the rush. 528 Prime Steak & Seafood reservations were 5:30pm. We ordered the “Couples Special” which was a $90 Tomahawk with a wedge salad and a bake potato as our side.
We waited an HOUR for our meal to be served while we watched the restaurant fill with guests. The overall dinner experience was disappointing, especially from an alleged high end “steak house”. The cooks in the kitchen were definitely not high caliber chefs as one would have expected. In fact at one point, one of the unprofessionally trained “cooks” came out of the kitchen barking at the bartender at 6pm “DONT SELL ANYMORE BAKE POTATOES!”. (Keep in mind, we had arrived only 30 mins ago and the restaurant was uncrowded early in the evening). Sadly an hour after ordering the most expensive steak on their menu (Tomahawk), we did not receive our baked potatoes and we were not given a choice of selecting another side dish-instead we received lumpy dry mashed potatoes. And the blue cheese for our salad was given to us in plastic to-go cups with plastic lids. 🫣 Seriously, plastic cups and lids?!
How does a restaurant DESTROY (overcooked) a $90 medium rare Tomahawk steak that we had been waiting for an hour to eat?? Did you leave the meat on the grill the entire hour? 😳
Quality of Service is also horrible. We sat at the bar for dinner, our bartender was sweet but we could tell she was feeling under pressure about something. The female co-owner who was standing behind the bar drying off glasses in front of where we sat, saw the WELL DONE Tomahawk served to us. She looked at me and quickly looked away without a single word or apology for the poorly cooked expensive food. Nor did she or the chef offer us a gift certificate or an apology to make up for the badly cooked food and very long wait time. For a $150 dinner that we did not eat, they lost us as repeat customers. Dinner was very disappointing and you can not use the excuse the restaurant was super busy because we ordered dinner by 5:45pm, before the rush.
Try checking out “Relish” in Warsaw. They have fantastic fresh tasting dishes with the food sourced locally and great service! The scallops were deeeelicious...
Read moreI went here on my way back home from visiting the George Washington memorial and absolutely loved this place. I'm really shocked that the reviews aren't as positive. I sat at the bar so I could watch the NBA Playoffs and overheard that they were offering a Prime Rib special.
Come to find out, the previous day, the owner purchased prime rib from a local farm to feature on their menu for Saturday night. It was a bone-in 30 oz cut of prime rib that he had been smoking for two hours. He only purchased enough for 7 cuts of Prime Rib and they were selling it with bread and two side items for $55. Folks, you simply aren't going to find a cut of meat that's bone in and over 2 lbs of meat with two side dishes in today's economy for $55. That price is an absolute deal at ANY steakhouse nation wide. Also, the owner was gracious enough to sauté some fresh provolone that was prepared in truffle butter to go on top FREE OF CHARGE for anyone who wanted it. I tried it and it was purely delectable.
This restaurant is clearly a family owned establishment and I observed the owner's wife teaching their new bartender how to prepare some of their special cocktails. They had drink specials and appetizer specials from 400-600pm for folks sitting at the bar.
I found all of the food to be fresh and clearly prepared with the energy and passion of a family that was invested in their craft. All of the employees were friendly and working hard to provide the best experience. Absolutely 5 stars from this establishment and proud to support a local family owned restaurant instead of some Applebees or other lousy chain spot. Will definitely be back and...
Read moreWent on a week night. Was hungry and looking forward to a good meal. Dined with my family. 5 all together. I ordered the prime rib since I was pleased with it on my only other visit there. It was like two different meals. I always order my steaks medium rare. When I do, I expect a prime rib to be either seared or red on the outside. This was neither. My best assumption was the prime rib was past its prime but they cooked it enough to be edible and it barely was. Instead of medium rare, it was pretty close to well. No sear, it was an unappetizing grey and fat was uncooked. No real flavor to it. At that point, I just wanted to finish it and go home. Can’t prove it was related but I had an upset stomach the next day and thought it was because of the steak. My thoughts are this. If you want to have everyone in town believe you are the premier place to dine, standards need to be higher. I would have much preferred that the chef recognized that the steak didn’t meet those standards and the server come back to the table and say the chef said the prime rib was not up to their standards but they do have a nice “X” cut and they recommend that. Would have been a much better experience for me. Also, I like vegetables with my steak and the only real choices for me were carrots and Brussels sprouts or fries. Went with the fries because I really am not into the sprouts. Turned out I made the best choice because the fiancé went with the sprouts and carrots and she said they were undercooked and disappointing. Gave two stars because the steak my daughter chose was superb. Wish I would have...
