Country Kitchen — Restaurant in Taylorville

This restaurant I am eating a 5 even though there are a few deficiencies. As with many businesses these days the staff shortage is evident and even though there was only 1 server the manager jumped in and the wait staff was attentive as possible. The restaurant was clean and no tables were unclean from previous customers. The food was great. The bacon was a good mixture of crispy and medium. The eggs over easy were just right. The toast not burnt as many places serve. The decaf coffee was fresh not 2 days old. This all shows their attention to food quality and rotation. Also most impressive there was no debris on the floor anywhere I could see The price was great and all for under 20 dollars. The temperature of the restaurant I found to be a bit warm. Service use to be great, food use to be great. The last couple times have gone the food has been served cold and undercooked. Tonight the waitress who never checked on us decided to yell at us because I didn’t hunt her down to file complaint and then this same waitress told my friend he was rude for saying they didn’t receive great service either. Absolutely ridiculous that their customer service and food had gone downhill so fast. I would not suggest going after 7pm. Update owner didn’t even care that his employees are rude to his customers I can see this business going under if nothing is done about the poor...

The creamy chicken and rice soup was amazing, the chili was great, and the mozzarella sticks were great. Service was pretty good. Unfortunately the main dishes were horrible. The $17 ribeye steak looked like a low quality rubber movie prop that I wouldn’t even be comfortable serving to my dog. The horseshoe was drowned in low quality cheese, the fries weren’t undercooked but lacked a crunch, and the hamburger patties were nothing special. I’d recommend trying their soups for sure, but I’d be wary of the other menu items. Perhaps take a look at others people’s plate and see if it looks decent...
