Taco Gringo Taylorville — Restaurant in Taylorville

The store was to open at 10:30. At 10:38 the doors were still locked. We thought perhaps the dining room was closed so we went to the drive through. No one answered. We drove to the window because we could see people inside. At first, the guy turned his back on us but seeing as we didn’t leave, he eventually opened the window. He said they weren’t yet open because of waiting on a third worker to show up. We were begrudgingly let in. When the food arrived, the beans had a hard layer on top so I’m guessing overheated in the microwave or leftovers from last night. There was rice mixed into the beans and the rice was not cooked thus giving the beans a crunchy texture. I’ve never experienced crunchy refried beans before today. The sancho had potential but the tortilla was hard around the edges and the filling was not quite lukewarm- the cheese remained solid if that tells you anything. I was disPointed in the value for what I ordered. For the same price I could have bought twice the volume of food at taco bell (which I dislike). $12 for a deluxe nacho and a Sancho was a disappointment, this being said the food was pretty good for fast food Tex-Mex. The sauces were a little bland and sweet for my taste (I am a bit odd about this issue, personal preferences) but probably will appeal to most people. Although I did not get a drink they do offer Pepsi products, I also consider this a plus. Overall expect larger sit down chain restaurant pricing for upper mid range...

Cook/prep/server was not wearing hairnet or hat. Was told "we don't do that here" upon bringing it to managers attention. Attempted to refuse refund after attempting to lock lobby 1:30 hours early manager on duty did not know how to process refunds spent 20 minutes on phone asked to get card related to refund. Attempted to lock me out of lobby after requesting card to refund order had to hold doors open and yell for card to be brought to me after 30 minutes argument over various health code violations.
