County Seat Cafe — Restaurant in Tazewell

My husband and I stopped in for breakfast and were highly disappointed. Upon walking in, no one greeted us or asked to seat us/ take a seat ourselves and there are no signs saying to go up to the counter and order. After standing, and not being acknowledged, at the counter for about three minutes we were finally acknowledged. We told the lady taking our order good morning, to which was responded with just a blank stare and no response. She stared at us until we told her what we wanted. We told her thank you and smiled, again no response. At this point, we grudgingly went and sat down. When we received our food, she practically threw our plates down in front of us and tossed the ketchup bottle on the table stating “here’s some ketchup” and walked away. Despite the terrible service so far, we smiled and said thank you many times to which ,once again, were returned with a blank emotionless stare and no words. The gravy tasted like it was from a package and the hashbrowns didn’t even have salt or pepper. The ONLY reason we are leaving one star, is because the biscuit tasted good. We MIGHT go back one day to give the business a second chance. In the off chance the customer service and food is better, I will change my review. For now, I’ll stick with the Frostee Freeze or even McDonald’s would’ve been better. We are usually pretty understanding people. This place is amazing. It's definitely not your typical restaurant. It's more like walking into family. They never fail to make you feel welcome & appreciated. Okay, sometimes they are so busy, they might not have time to pull up a chair and ask how your day is going. I guarantee one thing. You won't leave hungry. Since it is family owned, times they have to close. When this happens it always posted on the FB page. Daily lunch specials ( M-T ) 11-2 gets posted. Let's talk about Friday night. Fish fry Friday. We were up in tazewell today and starving after we got our car done and swung into a little hole in the wall that turned out to be quite the mystery and quite pleasing kitchen is sparkling tables are clean people are extremely friendly I see is so fresh it's not funny couldn't be happier with this little hole in the wall next trip up to tazewell we will have to swing in here again and enjoy another wonderful meal.
