The Human Bean — Restaurant in Teays Valley

I'm not sure if I've just been super unlucky, but I've been three times since they've opened, and each time has been a disappointment. The first time I went, two of our four drinks were completely wrong (including giving an energy drink in place of a small child's Italian soda, I quadruple-checked the name on the website. Luckily the staff had written "Buzz" on top of it so I was able to check the website for the ingredients and dump it before she had any). The cashier was polite but didn't know any of the items I asked for and had to stop and ask someone else about everything we ordered. Also there was no boba available. Not a huge deal, but kind of a bummer for my kid. The second time, the cashier was again very confused by my order (sour watermelon boba thing named directly from the website again and an Italian soda). Still no boba and the cashier said it would be an Italian soda with sour candies in it? There were no candies (didn't want them anyway but staff again didn't know what the drink was). The third time, my partner went and tried to get the sour watermelon boba thing and another drink. The cashier said they still don't have boba and they can't make the drink without it. Weird considering I was (kind of) able to order one twice before, but okay. The other drink was made hot for some reason, and when my partner tried to explain he had asked for it on ice, they again told him they couldn't do that (just milk over ice, nothing crazy). He was finally able to get someone else to understand what he was requesting and it still didn't come with ice. At every interaction, the staff was polite enough, but I would not say they have been friendly, nor have they sought to understand what someone is asking for directly from their own menu.

Overall, I've been super bummed so far, but I want to be proven wrong. We don't drink caffeine (for health reasons), so it was really exciting to see that we would have a place nearby with other yummy options! Places like Starbucks are not friendly to non-caffeine drinkers imho and I was looking forward to having a place to get a little treat. I think with better communication and training, this shop can really flourish. I truly hope to be able to update my review to a positive one some day because I know from other locations how awesome the Human...

You know when you discover a business that is absolutely amazing and so unique and DELICIOUS? Well this is that. Me and mom came here and were really excited because we saw that it was finally open. I absolutely love java chips (I get them everywhere i go if possible) and when i saw that they had Java Chips as one of their signature drinks... I was really happy to say the least! My mom loves frozen hot chocolates so she got a frozen hot chocolate! The prices were unbeatable as well. We pulled up to the window and were politely greeted and served our drinks. They came with chocolate covered coffee beans on the tops and it was so unique. LET ME TELL YOU that the Java chip was better than Starbucks could ever make! I had a free drink (350 points) available on Sunday, and now on Tuesday it has raised to 450 points. I wasn't able to get my free drink! So I used the $3 off coupon today instead.
