I can't quite put my finger on what's wrong here. Staff is attentive & friendly. Food is good. Prices aren't too bad, considering the quantity served. Everything appears fresh & clean. They have one of the most varied wine lists I've seen anywhere, taking up two entire pages of menu. There's just something off.

Maybe it's the fact the place is trying to be upscale, but it's attached to a convenience store/gas station. Maybe it's the fact it's called Fairways (based on its locale near a golf course), but nothing inside alludes to any one motif; heavy on a Marilyn Monroe theme, big screens galore like a sports bar, random Easter decorations even though it's May 7th, upscale appearance but 12" square tile flooring like a cafeteria, etc. I'm not saying it isn't "nice" inside, just ever-so-slightly bizarre. Like someone couldn't decide which direction they wanted to take with decorating the place.

After looking at the variety of choices available, the menu being both varied & eclectic (Mexican, Greek, Seafood, & American dishes represented fairly equally), and the prices wildly fluctuating from one entree to another (from $8 Caesar salad to lobster ravioli hovering around $23), I settled on a Chicken Quesadilla, which came with tortilla chips (don't know why I didn't choose steak as it was only $1 more?). My wife wanted Shrimp Scampi Pasta, but it was no longer offered (yet the menu didn't reflect the change). She ordered the Greek Salad instead. We both ordered soft drinks to wash it all down. Both of our dishes were very large portions, and neither of us could eat our whole meal. Both meals were very good, but then again, neither of us ordered anything complicated. Around $24 for both meals & drinks, plus a $5 tip. I consider that moderately priced, considering the meals we ordered. Hence my dilemma on this review.

I always make a serious attempt at a fair review. In this one instance I'm completely bewildered. I feel as if prices are set arbitrarily here, and I feel like some of that originates with the area in which it's located. Affluent neighborhoods abound here. I can say you won't be disappointed with the staff or the food. If I were only rating the food, it'd been an easy 4, maybe a 5. But with all things considered, I'm giving it a strong 3. I doubt seriously I'll ever return, just because I simply wasn't impressed, and nothing stood out as excellent or unique. I have no idea what their signature dish(s) is, or if they even have one. Their strong suit may be the fact they offer a little something...

My partner and I ate here for the first time on Saturday. He ordered a bacon cheeseburger with loaded fries for his side and I ordered the ravioli with braised spinach. For an appetizer, we had spicy cheese bites which were great and for dessert, we had the triple vanilla cheesecake which was also phenomenal. We were super impressed! So impressed that we decided to get food from there again today. His food was excellent (he ordered the same thing for his meal) and I decided to try the Buffalo chicken flatbread. The sauce is super good and I think it is decent size for the price. I was slightly disappointed taking a bite into the third piece and getting a mouthful of gristle from the chicken, but I continued eating my flatbread. After eating a couple more pieces, I saw another had a large piece of fat on it. This was probably just a fluke and I will definitely be back, but I will most likely not be ordering another flatbread with chicken on it again. The cheesecake, however, was a 30th anniversary edition and it was much better than the triple vanilla we ordered Saturday (which I loved the triple vanilla). We will definitely be back, but I will try something different. I did think it was super neat seeing there is also a coffee shop that I did not notice the other day, and they offer very unique flavors (banana,...

Food was decent. Service was awful. Was seated by the owner and sat there for 20 mins with no interaction. 3 servers, the owner and a bartender and no one spoke to us until we asked. They clearly saw us and walked by several times. The owner was too busy talking to friends for 30 mins. The bartender was behind the bar doing nothing. Finally, when we asked they said it was the owners fault because he didn’t tell them he sat us. Ummm you can’t see!? It’s small in there- maybe 10 tables and they weren’t all seated. They gave us a new girl it was her second day. She was nice- felt bad for her. We tipped her well. The owner came out, apologized yet wouldn’t make eye contact or speak to me (only to my boyfriend). I asked him if it was unrealistic to have a server say “hey have you been waited on yet?” He said yes. What!? He said they were short staffed and he had been running around working. No he wasn’t. He was talking, tables were dirty and there were plenty of servers. Larger restaurants would have loved to have that many people working. He also said that most people are understanding. I asked if he was saying I’m not understanding because I asked about an expectation . He back tracked and again wouldn’t address me when he spoke. I doubt we...

We stopped by Fairways Bar & Grill in Teays Valley around 3pm Saturday and the place was dead. When we arrived there wasn’t a soul in sight and we waited for several minutes before the someone appeared from the back. There was only 1 person tending the bar and the dining room. We were the only customers until the end of our meal when we asked for to-go containers. Our waitress was nice, but service was super slow despite being the only ones there. We ordered the hot cheese bites, spicy chicken and chicken gyro sandwiches. Food was good but needed more sauce to make it excellent. My gyro barley had any tzatziki. Chicken looked burnt but wasn’t, and was cooked perfectly. We ended up taking the extra sauce to go because it took so long to get it we’d already dealt with the meals as they came. They also have just about every cheesecake flavor Cheesecake Factory offers. They also only have high tops. Food and wine menus are both extensive with a slight Mediterranean influence. We will try again, because the food itself was good. We’ll know to ask for extras when we place the order though. If you go expect to be super patient.
