It’s exciting to finally have a vegan restaurant in town, but I think improvements are needed. First, the vibe is right & the place is nice, the staff is also great! So 5 stars on those. The food gets 2 stars from me. Lunch for three, with a shared drink & 1 appetizer is about $70. Food is heavy on carbs and gluten, low on veggies. I’ve been twice, and neither time impressed. First time, we got nachos, which is just chips, nutritional yeast sauce which was very watery, and black beans which tasted straight from the can. I wouldn’t serve it. The gyro was delicious, but it’s almost $15 for a single gyro, with no side or drink...that’s just ridiculous, even for a vegan restaurant in California. Kids menu lacks anything healthy, just carbs and gluten, I guess kids don’t need vegetables or fruit? Second visit I got the macho burrito, and I couldn’t eat even half of it, it was too gross. It’s crumble and refried beans and cheese, lots of this runny mixture in a huge burrito, with a little lettuce and a few small chunks of tomato on the side. I would’ve preferred everything inside the burrito, not on the side, and way less of the crumble and bean mush and a decent amount of veggies to balance out the large portion of mush inside the burrito. I insist you skip this item, haha. My husband enjoyed the Ruben, which was admittedly good, but the prices are really high for having to pay extra for a side. We had to order a salad to get some vegetables for our $70 lunch..I hope they can improve the food and prices, to...
Read moreIf you are new to Gentle Grill, you probably think they are delicious, however if you are used to what this place used to be years ago, it's really gone down hill and is definitely not worth the money. Having not been there in a while, we were surprised how much things have drastically changed. We ordered a Gyro, Gyro fries and a One Love burrito. First off, the fries they use now are absolutely disgusting. They are thick and soggy and the Gyro fries both only had a few strips of meat. The meat is another huge issue as it used to be finally sliced and now they are too lazy and just put these nasty chunks in the food. This really cuts down on the appeal and taste. The portions also have shrunk from years ago and none of the food was even that good. My gyro was mostly lettuce and had only 4 strips of the thick, nasty meat. I paid a ridiculous amount of money for basically lettuce, tomatoes and stale bread. The bread was dry, falling apart and tasted old. I think the only reason they survive is because they are the only vegan place around, but places like Native Foods would 100 percent put them out of business. Wish they were the Gentle Grill of the past. Overall, a huge waste of money and we won't...
Read moreI found this place on Happy Cow and decided to make a stop here on my way back to LA from a camping trip in the mountains. I'm so glad I stopped. The food was fantastic. I ordered the gyro bowl, which was basically a salad. I finished every bite - I would buy that peppery seitan by the pound if they sold it in bulk. I also got a peanut butter brownie. I've never had a decent peanut butter cookie since becoming vegan and this brownie hit all the right notes I've been missing.
My little one got the kid's meal with bean burrito and fruit. We asked to omit the cashew cheese. The fruit was melon and grapes. The burrito was made with pinto beans and grilled and delicious
I wish they had more drink options without sugar, preferably a sparkling water would have been perfect. I ended up ordering a lowish sugar probiotic sparkling drink that was good but I really just wanted a Pellegrino or Topo Chico.
I would definitely come back to try more of their menu. They only had two people working. I was happy to see they were busy with customers on a...
