10/25/2024 Update: Tried Uncle fats again and it was just as bad as always. The seafood platter used to be an actual seafood platter, it is now the nastiest thing you will ever eat. Took my father there for the first time, he asked how the seafood platter was, I told him I had it about 2 years ago and it was great, so he ordered it because he loves seafood. When it arrived to the table we were shocked, no more deviled crab, they replace that with an undercooked nasty tasting crab cake. No more fish fillets, they replace that with some nasty over breaded tiny fish nuggets that were undercooked and 80% raw. I told my dad to send it back, he's such a nice person he didn't want to hurt their feelings. I was pissed and almost said something. I have never seen such a poorly made seafood platter, and I have eaten seafood platters all over the state of Florida, yes including at bars. That platter at Fat's was a joke, I wouldn't even serve that to a dog!! The ladies who work there gave great service this visit and that is the best thing about Uncle Fat's these days. So Sad to say, I will not go back. Done! Been eating at Uncle Fats for over 16 years, sadly the food quality has gone down hill over the past couple of years. The last 3 recent visits we received food we didn't even order such as a plain grill chicken sandwich in place of a fried buffalo sandwich, regular hot wings instead of the honey hot wings (charged extra for the Honey though), a crab cake instead of a deviled crab (Big Difference!) We also received soggy old and warm celery. My friend ordered plain hot wings with the sauce on the side, 15 minutes later she finally got her sauce, then she got her check to find they charged her separately for her sauce... we thought an order of hot wings would be the same price rather the sauce is on them or besides them! It's a shame because we used to frequent Fats very often, though the past couple years, not so much because each time we give them another try we get another disappointment. It's really hit or miss these days. I hope management reads reviews and steps up their game in the food accuracy and quality department. Service is usually good except when they have a large crowd, then you can go 20+ minutes without your waitress, not good when you need a drink refilled or waiting to get the bill to check out. Over all I still like Fats and will give them another try and hope they get it...
Read moreI live about a mile down the road and I have been here several times. The service depends on the house staff and it can be amazing or it can be as terrible as you can imagine. The problem I have encountered across every visit is that there is zero consistency in the food. Tonight I ordered a five piece chicken tender with french fries and literally the chicken tenders were one square inch. It was like you took a full normal length chicken tender that you get from KFC or Popeyes or or churches and you cut it in thirds and I got five of those with half a hand full of french fries.. The side of coleslaw was literally 2 tablespoons in a plastic cup. Tax and tip 15+ dollars. Two days ago I picked up a Reuben sandwich to go, again, the service was absolutely amazing, the sandwich was thrown together, haphazardly and was a mess and I probably had 11 french fries. My recommendation to anyone would be to never go here because the food that you do get is not worth your visit, even though the Bar staff is amazing. Whatever the cooks are doing in the kitchen, it is completey disconnected from any revenue cycle or quality chile that the restaurant may have in place. I’m saying this having worked within the food industry for over 10 years from entry-level to management.
Tonight while I was waiting I saw two white boards of food prices ine said in house 12 wings $16.50 the other board was over the cash register and said 12 wings to go -$18.50….do to-go wings cost $2 more just because?
In my opinion I will not go back and the experience is not worth it on any level. I may do a comparison and randomly order chicken fingers from here and then from Publix just to show the difference. I could cut two Publix chicken fingers into the five pieces I was given in my 5- piece chicken tender meal with fries.
Skip this place. Bar staff 100....
Read moreUncle Fat's Tavern Heavens to be one of the best family-orientated country/biker bars this side of 56th. Has some of the best food as well for a great price. Not really sure about gluten-free or super healthy foods available, then again I haven't paid much attention to the menu as I usually go for the juicy meaty burgers or the fried mushroom platters they have. It's not exactly family-orientated for kids as let's say a Beef O Brady's but believe me it's no hole-in-the-wall bar either. It's just as good if not better than the Dallas Bull. Great place to beat the crowd too! There is a policy posted on the door that says nobody under 18 after 9 p.m. But they do have booster seats and options for smaller portions for kids if you decide to bring them. You have your regulars and newcomers that come through and you can ask any regular, this place is one of the best places you could come be yourself and be accepted as if you were their own family member. There's no smoking inside but they do have a seating section outside just big enough to accompany 20 people Max but with the crowds that come and go I'm sure you wouldn't mind conversating outside as it would kind of be rude not to in my book. The drinks are cold, the food is great and the prices are fair all around. Between the drop dead gorgeous bartenders along with the nightly karaoke Dance Floor combo and all the people that come to enjoy it, you would be a fool not to do as they say when they tell you to come back on your way out the door. Great place to stop and grab a quick cold one and a bite to eat at lunch, just don't overdo it so you'll be straight when you go back to work. So come on by and see for yourself, who knows you might meet your next someone...
