I’ll never forget this terrible experience!

I have been coming to Bill's Grill for many years. I have always enjoyed playing the arcades up there while my food was being prepared. I have never had any problems with the cooks or servers but today that changed. There where times where me and my friends would come in and we will notice the server being a little aggressive with us and giving us a dirty look like we where not supposed to be there. But the ladies never actually showed their true colors until today.
I came in to Bill's grill and I notice that the tables and floors were very dirty. There was food all on the floor. I finally sat a the round table by they arcade room. I politely asked the server could she please sweep underneath the table a little. She stared at me and gave me an angry look. As she was walking over to the kitchen to grab the broom, she started talking loud to the other ladies about me. She was pointed her finger in my direction and kind of yelling. As the server came to my table and started to sweep underneath, She said, "What I don't understand is that their is nothing underneath the table. I don't know what his problem is." After she was done sweeping, I said to her, "Maam, it wasn't that big of a deal. I did not mean to make y'all upset." She started to kinda yell in my face and said, "This is the cleanest table here." But one can see that there was food particles everywhere on the floor. So I told here that was ok, Ill just go somewhere else to eat. Then the server went to the other ladies and started to bad mouth me. And one of the Ladies said that I needed to move around. I got up and I approached the lady at the counter and I asked her polity could I have the managers number. She gave me that angry look and said, You need to move around! If you want to talk to the manager she will call but you need to move around!" And I just said ok. As I walked out the door, the cook lady followed me out side and I believe she was writing down my license plate number. Also, I believe she was either talking to the manager on the phone or the police I wasn't sure.
I sat in my car in shock and started to cry. I was thinking, did this really happen to me? After this situation, I will never go back to the restaurant. Like I said before, there were times where I felt racial profiled but today they showed their true colors. I was treated horribly and I felt like I was not...

We just left Bill’s Grill in Temple, and while the food was delicious as always (this place never misses), what made today unforgettable was our server, Stephany. I’ve had great service before—I’ve eaten at 5-star restaurants, sat through white tablecloth service, the whole nine—but what Stephany gave us today? That was something special. Like, soul-touching, mood-lifting, “I might cry writing this” kind of special.
My boyfriend is a big muscle guy, and she went out of her way to make sure we had a comfortable table setup. No awkward squeezing into booths—she noticed and adjusted without us having to ask. That alone would’ve been enough to leave a good impression.
But then came the moment that truly got me—his youngest daughter needed to go to the bathroom. Usually she’s shy and nervous, but Stephany walked with her, made her feel safe, and that sweet little girl went on her own for the first time ever. I almost cried right then and there.
Stephany also made sure she got her Minnie Mouse pancakes, brought whipped cream and decorated them at the table, which honestly just felt like magic. Like, who does that anymore? She treated us like family, not customers. She was warm, patient, thoughtful, and so full of genuine care that I’m honestly tearing up writing this.
We were having a rough morning, and thanks to Stephany, we left laughing and full—not just with good food, but with joy. She reminded me how much of a difference kindness and connection can make. This might be a little hole-in-the-wall place, but today, thanks to her, it felt like the best restaurant in the world.
Stephany, if you ever read this—thank you. You have a gift, and you gave it so freely today. We’ll be back, and I hope we get lucky enough to sit in your...
Read moreOur experience at Bill's Grill was nothing short of delightful. Situated at 1906 S 1st St, Temple, TX, this country-style diner took us on a nostalgic journey back in time. The ambiance reminded us of a classic diner from yesteryears. From the moment we walked in, after a fun visit to a nearby fall festival farm, we were greeted with warmth not just from the staff but also from the friendly patrons already enjoying their meals.
Our waitress, Michelle, was outstanding in her service, ensuring our diverse group, which included 5 adults, triplet 4-year-olds, and a one-year-old baby, was well taken care of. The chef, who tirelessly prepared our delicious meals, deserves a special mention. Every dish was cooked to perfection, reflecting her dedication and passion.
One standout for us was their pancakes – fluffy, golden, and simply amazing.
I indulged in the 10-ounce ribeye steak, which was served with a crisp iceberg salad, a loaded baked potato, and buttered Texas toast – a hearty meal that satiated my taste buds. The kids were thrilled with their breakfast meals, and both my wife and sister couldn't stop raving about their respective dishes.
A pleasant surprise for my sister was the availability of Diet Dr. Pepper, which isn’t a common find everywhere. It's these little touches that make a dining experience memorable.
All in all, our visit to Bill's Grill was filled with delicious food, excellent service, and a cozy atmosphere. We're eagerly looking forward to making the hour-long drive from Austin for another delightful meal. If you're in the area or even if you're not, Bill's Grill is...
