This was my first time trying this establishment. I usually go to Yoshi's across town, but this is a minute away from my home, and I thought I'd give it a try.
I am pregnant and sushi (spicy) has been my CRAVING for the last month. I have to be careful since I can't consume raw fish. I have been surviving on various HEB rolls to try and curb the cravings, and it hasn't worked. So while my husband was at work, he doesn't like sushi, I decided to treat myself.
I called to make the order as the sushi options are not part of their online ordering. I was advised it'd be about and hour wait. Ok fine I can wait. 50 minutes I get the call that it's ready! Very nice of them to call. I arrive and there are servers running around yelling hi, and welcome...I've never been so I slowly make my way to the back of the restaurant where the register is, and I explain I had a call in to go order. She rings me up gives me the slip to sign and walks off. I add a 2.00 tip to my 36.00 bill, lay it on the bar after signing, and leave again with servers shouting thanks for coming in.
Now to the food...
I decided to go with the 911 roll (which is my go to roll at Yoshi's) and a Cowboy roll which are 2 of the cooked options as they are deep fried. I was so disappointed 😞. Both rolls were completely covered in what was possibly flavorless toasted panko bread crumbs (didn't mention this coating on the menu)?! On the 911 roll the amount of cream cheese over powered the WHOLE roll. It basically tasted like warm cream cheese with a hint of fish flavor and some crunch. I couldn't even make out any of the flavors of the fish included...maybe tuna, but it sure wasn't spicy. The cowboy roll tasted like a fish stick you'd get in the freezer section of the grocery store. The thick and crispy bread coating on this roll had zero flavor and only added an overpowering fish stick breading taste. Whatever sauce that was used couldn't be tasted and there was no hot sauce. If there was it was absorbed by the obscene amount of bread crumbs coating the roll. Overall very disappointing for the...

The food has always been on point and I give the manager total respect! He is there everyday and even making sushi rolls when it’s busy!
First! The food is amazing! Sushi is on point and the options are plentiful. I have a three star rating due to the waitress, Karina O, and the manager, Christian, who was on duty tonight (08/19/2022).
The first soup and salad they offer is complimentary according to this manager and any additional salads or soup you request is charged. Funny, that the last two times my husband and I dined there, we were not charged additionally for any salads we received. Also, Karina should be aware of menu and when describing a menu item for a to go order, put the right order in. When the customer is expecting a certain total on the receipt and it isn’t what was expected, the manager should have enough customer service skills to handle the situation better, rather than twisting the customers words. The manager said that even though I asked for one type of sushi, what the waitress put in is what I got, and the salad should make up the difference. Oh yes… the $1.00 value salad makes up for the $6 difference. How about the waitress put in the $13.00 sushi instead of the $17.95 sushi.
Be careful when they ask you if you would like another soup and salad.. 2 salads equal $7.95. Other than that, I would recommend eating here as the atmosphere is inviting, but you will listen to new age pop or ‘80’s ‘90s music at a loud volume.
Karina O and the manager failed tonight. I will think about returning and spending $70 to $100 as I have each visit before. Very disappointing….
Pic is of the salad that should’ve made up the difference and the rest of the sushi that I...
Read moreWalking in, do you have the sphere was great. I was really excited because I have not tried any sushi restaurants in Temple yet. She came to get our drinks and before she did girl order we had miso soup and a side salad to start with. The Miso soup was good, although it was only broth no added vegetables or tofu. The salad was not fresh at all. There was barely any green left in the salad. I ordered Sushi combination #1. And my date ordered the West Philly roll. I lived in California for 2 years and I'm pretty familiar with what sushi rolls I do and don't like. When my platter came out it was completely wrong and I could tell from the get-go. When I told the waitress walking by that I didn't think it was my order she said no that I was just missing one. When my waitress came she brought the menu and said you ordered Sushi combination number one correct? And I said yes and she pointed to Sushi combination A. I said no, combination #1 and pointed just above where #1 is at, and clearly the order was wrong. Well the older lady, and the second waitress apologized and told me they would correct it. But MY waitress got mad and said "You said this one." And my date and I both said almost at the same time "She said combination 1." I said, "you know I said 1 because you just admitted I said 1" She said "No I heard you say combination roll 1." And stormed off..... ...?... So you admitted I said 1, yet you're still making it seem like I'm wrong, because you're the one that wrote down A. Wish the sushi was good enough to make me say the trip was worth it but unfortunately it was not. I will not...
