Went to dinner here before a dueling pianos event at the casino. Had reservations through open table and got right in when we arrived. There were several open tables on a Saturday evening at 6:15pm. When walking to our table I noticed under the table there was clear plastic lids, trash, and pieces of food underneath. Server arrived and took our drink order. The draft beer system was down so it was only bottled beer, wine, and cocktails. I ordered a lemon drop martini. When it arrived it tasted like pure lemon juice from the bottle. I asked for a new one when the server came to take our food order. I ordered the fish and chips. The fish and chips came out and looked ok but for $27 I would expect it not to be served with plastic solo containers with lids like a fast food restaurant. The fish was ok. The fries that were not under the fish were crisp but the fries under the fish were mush and wet. The coleslaw was bland. While eating dinner my replacement drink came. When it was sat down next to me I noticed pieces of red stuff floating on the top of it. I sent it back again and told the server not to worry about making a third one. As we were done eating and trying to pay to leave to head to the event the server came with a replacement drink again. I told him we were leaving and he said I could take it with me. I tried it and again it tasted horrible. I told the server and he took it off the bill. I had read the reviews before coming and was hoping it was just a few bad cases but now after experiencing it for myself I can say for it being open almost a year they should be a lot better. I noticed that the manager was just walking around not doing anything looking kinda lost. She never checked in with any tables to make sure everything was ok. She never came and asked me about the 3 drinks I sent back. For the price of the food I would expect a lot better service. Definitely not going to be on the restaurant to go...
Read moreI have eaten at Rockwood Bar & Grill three times. A couple months ago, my son and I had Tyler as a server. I have to eat gluten free and Tyler worked hard to answer all of my questions about the menu. We had the pot-roast dinner, which was a huge portion of beef, mashed potatoes, carrots, and an additional side. It was delicious, but even better than the food was Tyler's attentiveness, upbeat personality, and work ethic. He was conversational and very pleasant throughout; he created a great dining experience for us! I ate at Rockwood twice over the July 4th weekend and had the half-rack rib dinner special with loaded mashed potatoes, and slaw both times. The ribs were tender, with a slightly spicy BBQ sauce on the side. The side dishes were fresh and very tasty. Molly B. was my server the first evening. She is relatively new to Rockwood, but not to serving, and her experience showed! She was great about answering all of my questions, she always had a smile/sunny personality, and was very accommodating, and attentive. The next evening, I ordered the rib dinner, again, because it was SO good! Acacia was my server and she was very kind and attentive. I had lost track of time in the casino, and arrived at Rockwood later than I should have since it wasn't long before they closed, but she didn't stress about it. Each time I have eaten at Rockwood, the portions were so big, I took half or more of the meal home in take-out containers. I was able to eat two more meals on each dinner. I found the food to be a great value and of very high quality! Thank you, Tyler, Molly B., Acacia, and Rockwood! Job...
Read moreCame in for lunch on a Sunday and ordered the damn good burger with cheddar cheese and fries from the menu. The burger didn't come with any condiments, so I requested some mustard to go with it. After applying the mustard to the bottom bun and placing the lettuce, tomato and onions on the bottom, I topped the burger with the 3 slices of house-made pickles and proceeded to take the first bite.
Overall, the burger seemed pretty standard for what you would expect from a burger at a traditional dine-in American restaurant. I think the pickles are what set it apart from other places, because they were really good. I think if they added a house-made sauce that elevates the pickles, that would really make it a DAMN GOOD BURGER, but it at least made it to the "slightly above average" category.
However... things took a dramatic turn when I took a bite of the fries. I wanted to shake the cook's hand because those were some of the most perfectly prepared fries I have ever eaten. The size was perfect... they weren't those thin soggy fries you get from fast food places. They had a very flavorful and crispy exterior that had a nice crunch, as well as a hot, tender center. They didn't need any seasoning or dipping sauces because they stood on their own, but I think they could easily be elevated to new heights with a garlic & rosemary aioli or something.
I was just passing through the area, but I'm glad I stopped here. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The hours on Google Maps were incorrect so I let them know so they...
