We were just driving through on our way from the Metroplex to Arkansas, and this came up as a convenient place to get some Mexican food, which seemed to be the consensus in the car. The lady at the counter was charming; my partner loved that she called both partner herself (53 years old) and her mom who we were traveling with (78 years old) "my lady," and myself "sir." She pointed out the more picture-oriented menu to us, as soon as mom seemed a little overwhelmed with options. The food arrived very quickly, and it was very good, very authentic. I went most "Tex-Mex," but most of the dishes seem traditional from the namesake, Colima, and they were delicious. I tried my partner's shrimp dish, I guess it would be called shrimp diabolo. Spicy, but with incredibly good flavor. Without being pushy, a couple of employees came up and asked if everything was all right and if we needed anything else, removed serving platters and so forth. I only gave the atmosphere 4 stars because the place is showing its age, but it's kept clean. There are chips and dings in the wall, my partner used the bathroom and said the same, it's clean, but it's showing wear. This is in kind of a working area, lots of places around that are tire shops, car repair, a Walmart just down the road, and I feel that they cater to the local Hispanic working folks who actually want authentic food. At the time we got there, it wasn't packed, but it was definitely full enough. The cost was modest for the servings that we got, I still had leftovers to take with me. And the same lady who was behind the counter and took our order was eating her lunch at a table when we left, and still asked us how everything was and wished us a safe trip. If we go this direction again, this will almost certainly be a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI can't believe i have lived within 40 min of this place 13 years and never heard of it???? Mexican food and TexMex is my favorite. I have hundreds of reviews all over Texas and Mexico too but yesterday we found this little jewel tucked away in a strip mall. As we walked in i knew it was going to be good. Smells and menu picture board was just like south Texas. I got the combo beef, chicken and shrimp fajitas spicy, wife got chicken taco salad with NO shell and daughter got quesadilla.... We brought 2 full tray boxes home. It was so good, the beef was tender and yep spicy means spicy. Had sweat on my forehead, eyes watered some, back of my tongue went almost numb... But it was so good. Wife loved her salad but it was COVERED with chicken. Daughter brought over half her quesadilla back ot was so huge. She loved it. There was only 3 tables open die to this fake CCP pandemic but was happy to see they were open. This will be our usual Mexican food place from now on. Cant wait to eat my left overs today for lunch. The pictures are great but wish you could smell them instead. BTW, if you cant handle very spicy... Do NOT order spicy, you might die. Haha not really, but beware, spicy IS very much just that. I highly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWow!!!!!! We are seriously so impressed with the service, salsa, and burritos!!! We have very, very, very picky tastes when it comes to tacos and burritos. We lived in So Cal for 5 years, CO for 4 years, and TX for 3 years and we have tried a lot of different tacos and burritos. Most of the time in TX, believe it or not, they were just so-so or horrible.
When we lived in CA our favorite burrito was the āCalifornia burritoā. Nothing anywhere has been able to live up to that...until today when we ate the āCalifornia burritoā, āJumboā, and the āSausage breakfast burritoā at Colimaās. The burritos are ENORMOUS so you will not be able to finish them in one sitting. The āCalifornia burritoā at Colimaās is as authentic as it is in Cali.
Yes, this is an unnecessarily long review on burritos lol BUT itās 2020 and we will take any victory no matter how big or small šš And to anyone who said that their salsa is ājarredā or bought, you need your tastebuds examined. This salsa, although spicy, was very good. If it is jarred (which I doubt), itās the best jarred salsa we have ever had š¤·š»āāļø We live near Austin so we donāt get up to Texarkana more than once a year but when we are here next, we will definitely go back...
