I'm not a local (I'm from a couple hours away in Oklahoma) but this is one of those places mostly locals know about unless you find out about from a place like this. It's absolutely a hidden gem! I was in a group of six and everyone picked either the Friday catfish or the country fried (chicken fried) steak. We had a variety of different side items. We were ALL impressed with our choices. My country fried steak was EXCELLENT! The gravy can make or break this item - the gravy was perfect. The green beans were so good it had me searching the juice at the bottom of the bowl to make sure I hadn't missed a piece. Genuine mashed potatoes too. It was all just as good as you could hope for! The service was right up there at the top too - we didn't need for anything. Everyone was very nice obviously care about their customers. Our plates didn't arrive at the same time, but within a minute or two of each other - because they are really cooking in the back and it shows. It's also not a complete budget buster to eat at Mother Kelley's - I was wondering how they were selling a few of the items on the menu for the very reasonable prices. The building doesn't look like a restaurant from the outside (I'm wondering if it used to be something like a real estate or insurance office) and I've definitely driven past it many, many times and never noticed the place before. This is one place that WAY over delivered on what I was hoping for. I'm ready for my next visit and I just ate lunch there TODAY. Thanks everyone there!...

Once again Mother Kelley's did not disappoint. We were greeted before we both got through the door. The dining area is welcoming and spotless. After we decided which of the appetizing dishes we wanted, our order was taken at the desk and our experience got started. We chose our table where our server quickly brought our drinks and utensils. Our dinners were fast to follow. I love mashed potatoes with gravy so I had to have a bite as soon as my plate was on the table. I thought I heard harp music when I took that bite. I also had the most delicious fried okra and chicken fried steak that I have had probably since the last time I ate at Mother Kelley's. The steak had a beautiful crust and the meat was tender. Our drinks were refilled and we were offered carry out drinks which we accepted along with a carry out container for my companion. Before we got to the door we were invited back by the staff. I had enjoyed one of those meals that you don't want to end. We went before the noon rush so we had all the time we wanted to enjoy our meals; however, at noon there is a waiting line for a table. My advice is to go before the rush. You can wait until after the rush, but you risk finding your favorite daily...

Ordered food today, and lets just say the food was fresh & hot. Only one thing i will say, the gravy is a little too rich for me and a little heavy on salt . I would ask for less salt if that's possible. I also went back for my banana pudding , i assume she might have forgotten that i wanted banana pudding. So of course i went back lol ( it's my favorite dessert) and it wasn't any issue, however the portion of the pudding failed flat. I had maybe like 3 or 4 bites of it for just 3$+ . Not sure if yall was running out. Anyways i will be back soon :) i love yall food and i know yall are bsck opening so i admire yall for it....

stopped here while driving from wisconsin to texas and had an absolutely perfect experience. the restaurant is spotlessly clean, the service is friendly and very quick, and the food was all excellent. every bite was served freshly cooked, piping hot, and expertly seasoned. even the simple vegetable sides were somehow the best i’ve ever had. the desserts were also delicious and tasted homemade. prices were very reasonable—cash preferred! worth a stop if traveling through texarkana and also worth going out of your way for simple, classic home cooking done in exactly right. really a special place.
