I have never eaten here before but my friends speak very highly of the food so I thought I would give it a try. I got delivery. The food was made quickly, got here quickly and everything was a good temperature. I can absolutely understand how for some the food rates 5 stars. It's all a matter of what you're accustomed to. For me, this was average in flavor. The gyro was well loaded, light on the onion (which I'm good with) and not overloaded with garlic, which I'm also good with. Over it filled me up, it just wasn't outstanding. The hummus was smooth and silky, but a bit bland. The falafel, which can always be a bit hit or miss for me, was a miss. A touch dry and seemed a bit processed. The gyros are okay but not as tender as I had hoped and prefer. The chocolate cake, well I was hopeful it was the chocolate mousse cake. It wasn't but it was good. It's on denser side, darker chocolate, not terribly sweet, and evil, mousse like icing. It was very good. I was disappointed the small salad the gyro came with only had one olive, but again, pleased it wasn't drowning in onion and garlic. Would I go back? There are many things on their menu and I certainly would like to give a few different dishes a try. The food was a solid 3 to 3.5, decent prices, and worth more exploration. It's on the softer side of flavors, and if that's what you hope for, I think you will find it delightful. As I said, it wasn't quite what I was looking for so for me 3 stars, but others could easily find their new favorite...
Read moreLet's start out with the wonderful and kind service. Just amazing gentleman working this evening. Polite and patience because, in all honesty, I wanted the whole menu. I decided to stick to the basics for my first visit. Because thats where the skill is being able to continually make the basics perfect, and they do here. The dolma was just the right size and accompanied by the freshest Tazki sauce I've had in a very long time and very fresh chilled lemon wedges. Yummy. Gyro plate had a light and fluffy rice pilaf with sweet carrots and peas, very thin Gyro meat sliced perfectly to fit in the fresh pita bread, humus fresh with excellent seasoning, just the right amount of texture as well almost whipped feel to the tongue. It was all excellent. And my friend had the shrimp and pasta dish also excellent. Shrimp had a wonderful amount of spices while arop a creamy, comforting Alfredo penne pasta cooked to perfection. Say yes when they ask if you want the tea. Cold, refreshing has a distinctive flavor of lemon and something that just warms your heart while relaxing you. It's just a wonderful drink to compliment an amazing meal.
Dessert, baklava buttery, flakey, lightly chewy. Pure yum, as long as you can nuts.
Can't wait to return for the next items on the menu.
Thank you for being open late...
Read moreI just discovered Cafe Petra and I am so happy with my experience. I am a great fan of Greek foods and Middle Eastern foods and at Petra Cafe, you can find a good combination of all this. The hostess, Dayra is absolutely awesome. She is very nice and very professional. It has been only one year that Cafe Petra has opened and I regret I did not find it before, I am happy to know that I won’t have to drive too far to get my favorite foods.
Cafe Petra has the best homemade Hummus and the best Tzatziki I have ever tasted. Most of the foods at Petra are homemade and they are very healthy. I highly recommend to everybody who follows a Mediterranean diet or who just wants to eat healthy and delicious to go and give it a try. You won’t be disappointed. The foods are delicious, the service is fast and nice and the place is very clean. I will return soon...
