The small town of Bracken TX & its places of business has character & characters. When the Bracken Cafe relocated to Retama Race Track, the Bracken Store & Ice House opened its doors at this address. The new business appealed to people who enjoyed good food (Food truck) expanded dining to outdoors, added a convenient store & live entertainment. What brought me back today at 0100pm was a fund raiser for Earl Rhodes. A BBQ, bake sale, & an auction of very nice donated items. Earl is a friend of LeAn Watson Butler whom I have known from workouts & socials at the old Spectrum gym. It is a good worthy cause. Featuring not only a vintage bar, but also numerous vintage metal signs w neon lights. The beverage selection is excellent and on Fridays/Saturdays a food truck brings up fresh Gulf shrimp/fish, fried on premises and served w French fries and cole slaw. Large industrial spools function as unique tables in the large covered back porch where local country rock-a-billy acts are regularly billed.
