Updated Review as of 7/30/24: Back when we first came out to try Cork It in April, we didn't have a great experience and our review at the time said so. HOWEVER, 3 months later, we decided to give them a second chance by hosting our Silent Book Club NW Houston Chapter at this venue and I'm happy to write about this redemption story. I had the pleasure of meeting John and his wife who own this venue and everything from their warmth, decor, food, wine selection, and all around vibe were exceptional. We had 22 attendees for our event and everyone raved about how inviting the setting was, how good the food was, and eagerly expressed a desire to return with their friends and family or even for another book club meeting. John and his team really showed us that one bad night doesn't speak to the culture of a place and sometimes, second chances are so worth it. Shout out to Gabby, who made sure everyone's orders were taken in a timely manner and that our drinks were quickly refilled. If you haven't had the chance to check this place out, we highly recommend it. We love seeing a happily ever after ending and seeing small businesses thrive. So give them a shot the next time you're in the area.
April Review: I will be fair and offer that we may have just come on the wrong night. However, we had a reservation for 7:30pm, got seated right away, but that is where the service stopped. It took way longer than it should have for a smaller space to send a service staff to provide menus and despite that staff member being told that nobody had approached for a while, she still took a lot longer before coming back to check on us and take a simple drink order. In that space of time, there was a baby screaming at the top of their lungs because, again, it was 7:30pm and, as a mom myself, that baby probably should have been in bed, and at that point it just seemed like too much effort to stay at a spot that looks cute inside, but the vibe this night was just way off. Also, live music was about to get underway and honestly, the volume between a crying baby, the acoustics of the place and the anticipated music was a lot to consider. We ended up walking out. A kind man, who we assume might have been the manager, asked why we were leaving and even he knew that the baby might have been a factor. We explained that the staff took too longer to tend to us given that we were just there for drinks and even he looked disappointed. We wanted to love it, but staff need to be more attentive to make people feel like they would like to come back. Maybe once they've trained up their team, we'll give it another go. Also, maybe if you're a parent wanting to know if this is a kid friendly spot, just know that no bar atmosphere is kid-friendly after 7pm on...

Issues: Why have tables marked off as reserved for over 2 hours? Our group of 4 could have sat more comfortably at one of those tables, but we sat at the sofa/chairs up front and the reserved table remained empty during the full 2 hours we were there.
My friend got served the wrong drink and had to wait a long time to get the right drink. Espresso martini was served without foam to my husband but with foam to my friend. Our food order was put in wrong, and we ended up with something else. They fessed up to the mistake, but they served us something that was cheaper, so it should be ok..... I guess.
Lastly, make sure you double-check your receipts because we were overcharged for hummus. Thankfully, we got that fixed before we left.
Very pretty interior. Hope...
Read moreMade a reservation for 7 pm. Walked in at 6:35pm to be told it was closed for a special event. Totally get that! Sometimes systems aren’t able to be updated. The real kicker is we apologized and left and as we walked out the door a very interesting customer service technique was employed. One of the employees yelled out in a condescending tone that there was a sign on the door. I went back and checked, and sure enough there was a sign. An all black background and difficult to make out sign that said “Closed….something something in even smaller text” (which is a great design choice on a dark window, so as not to take away from the beautiful aesthetic, but a little hard to make out as a notice to not come in through a door).
I hope yall have a great event and get tipped well, and I’m so sorry to not have called to cancel my...
